I just saw Michele will be speaking at the veterans institute at wdw on nov 14th. Will this mess up things at the airport?

Not too much. Some planes may be held until hers takes off or lands but other than that shouldn't be an issue.

Wonder if there will be park delays or extra traffic? We will be there at this time. We have dining reservations and christmas party tickets. Wondering how much time to allow to get around the property .

The Veterans Institute isn't a place; it's a meeting. They are not showing where it is being held unless you register, but my guess is either at the Contemporary or Boardwalk.

Honestly, I don't think you will see much delay; they will undoubtedly use as many of the backstage roads as possible. 417/Osceola may be closed temporarily for the motorcade, but that probably won't be for more than 30 minutes.

They do ground-stop the airport when FLOTUS arrives, but it is precision-timed, and once her plane has taxied to the hanger where she will disembark, all of the other ground traffic is released. She won't go anywhere NEAR the terminals; they disembark at an area as far away from public access as possible and go straight off the plane into the cars.

DebbieB, where did you find out where it is? I skimmed the article, but I didn't see the YC mentioned. My only interest is that we are driving from WDW to the Port to catch a cruise that day, and I was concerned about traffic being rerouted, security, etc.

I read that Michelle Obama is the keynote speaker and based on the tentative agenda posted above, it appears as if the keynote speech is early in the morning (the event goes from 8am-7pm). Hoping she's in and out for that.
