Hi, guys! Thanks for all your great replies about CA Grill. I'm being lazy today and not replying to you all individually - sorry.
Ok, I guess I've been putting this off b/c it's the review of our LAST DAY. *sniffle*
We had lunch at Raglan Road, because my mom was crazy to try the bread pudding. We were sat in the back, next to the giant portrait of Bono, and he sort of gave me the heebie jeebies.
Mike, not Bono.
Since we were still on our DxDDP, we pondered appetizer choices. We thought about the Dalkey Duo, but our kind waiter (when Mike asked for no mustard sauce) explained that the sausage is battered in mustard, too. Some waiters wouldn't've thought, "Hey, they don't want mustard sauce, they must not like mustard, I should tell them!" Snaps for waiter.
Anyway, because of that, Mike didn't get an app.
I, however, got the Heaven on Earth...
Guiness and honey glazed ribs. They were good, but both Mom and Mike thought they were too sweet. They were a bit, so if you don't go for a sweeter style rib, don't get these. They were cooked well, though, and overall I enjoyed them.
Mom got the scallop forest...
These scallops were huge, and one spit on me. The lime sauce they come with for dipping is fantastic, and the batter is really light. Excellent, but a huge appetizer! Especially since Mike won't eat scallops...
Mike and I ordered burgers, which you've seen, and Mom got fish and chips. Hers was a bigger portion than Mike's from earlier, and our burgers were cooked perfectly. I only ate half of mine to save room for dessert.
We ordered 3 desserts... the bread pudding, of course, which you've seen, and also the Dunbrody's Kiss and Chocolate Threesome.
Dunbrody.
Threesome.
The Threesome had chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse, and a chocolate milkshake. Loved the milkshake - they could make me a big one of these and I'd be happy. The white chocolate mousse was really good, so we let Mike have most of that. He especially liked it with the bread pudding. The chocolate mousse was excellent, but it was the exact same thing as the top of the Dunbrody's Kiss.
Ok, Dunbrody... shoulda been good... and the top part *was* good... but the bottom layer had cornflakes in it. Yep, cornflakes. They gave it a very strange texture, and you had to sit and chew the cornflakes forever. We ate the top layer, but left the cornflakes bit - it was just not enjoyable.
The best dessert was the bread pudding, but the chocolate threesome was great, too - I'd recommend that over the Dunbrody's since the chocolate mousse is the same, sans cornflakes.
We managed to roll ourselves out the door, and we headed to Goofy's Candy Company to get rid of our snack credits. I don't have all the pics, but here are a couple...
Rice crispy treat dipped in dark chocolate, with reese's cups and caramel drizzle. When I first started eating this, the treat tasted stale. Not good. A day or so later, though, it was much better. Strange, but true. I also got dipped pretzel rods; still my fave!
Rice crispy treat in milk chocolate, with oreo pieces and white chocolate drizzle. Mike ate this in one sitting. I was amazed. He also got a gingerbread cookie that he left with me - it was quite good.
Mom got dipped pretzel rods and a dipped oreo. She enjoyed both, but I didn't get pics!
So that's the end, I guess. It's been fun! Overall we liked the DxDDP, but I don't know that we'll get it again - we always had a ton of leftovers, and never had a chance to eat them! Next trip might be DDE.
Hope you guys enjoyed the reviews!!
