First Family at American Adventure

I don't know if anyone has posted this "magical moment" before - I did a search and didn't come up with anything, but I'm sure many others have gotten it!

Anyway, we weren't even planning on seeing the movie at American Adventure (sorry for all you AA fans, nothing personal here), but we ducked into the rotunda because DD15 is a big fan of a cappella singing and wanted to see the Voices of Liberty. While we were enjoying their performance, a costumed CM walked up to DH and asked him if we were a family. He (not really understanding this magical moment stuff) was pretty puzzled, but said yes. We were then escorted to the "cast members only" elevator where the CM asked our last name and where we were from. He then told us we were the "First Family" and we should take the elevator to the second floor. When we got there, there were seats with "reserved for the First Family" cards on them...we sat down and watched the Voices of Liberty from up high. After they were done, the CM came over and said that we would be first in the theater for the movie and could pick any seats we wanted. He also gave us a 4.5" x 5.5" "Where dreams come true" card with our name, First Family, and American Adventure written on it that commemorated this "certifiable magic moment."

After all the other guests had filed in for the movie (I believe they had to walk up a ramp), another costumed CM announced (I am paraphrasing here), "and please welcome our first family, the Wallaces from Massachusetts! Please wave and let us know where you are!" or something like that. DD15 was totally embarrassed in the way that only teenagers can be embarrassed, but DH, DS9, and I enjoyed our 15 seconds of fame.

It was neat to get this, but I honestly wish it had been bestowed on a family that was actually intending to view the movie! We had kind of a comical moment in the elevator where DH asked me, "what exactly is this attraction, anyway, and how long does it last?" :rotfl2: I - who had read both the UG and Passporter pretty much cover to cover (at least the attraction parts), paid for TGM, and hung out on the DIS regularly - had to admit that I all I knew was that it was a movie, and I had no clue as to its length!

Anyone else been "First Family"? Please share!

We got picked for this on our honeymoon in January! It was cute because we had been called Mr.&Mrs.____ but it was the first time we were referred to as the "_____ Family"! We pretty much had the same experience you did, we got picked while walking in to see the Voices of Liberty, and we got to sit and watch them from upstairs. We got to head into the theater early and they even gave us permission to take pictures (see below!), which is usually not allowed. Then they announced us and had us wave and told everyone were were honeymooning! We left the American Adventure feeling very Red, White and Blue that day!!

Wow, Kimberly, do I feel like a maroon! (as Bugs Bunny would say) (oops, wrong theme park). We did not take ANY PICTURES!! Yep, you had the same view we did. Interesting that there were only 8 Voices of Liberty (4 men, 4 women) the day we were there. Thanks for posting.
