First Extra Magic Hours at WDW now

I also think that more people will know about EMH than the e-nights. Disney is advertising the EMH pretty heavily. I don't think they used to advertise the e-nights.

InstImpres. I think you have something in the idea that people will opt to go to the Magic Hour park if they cannot park hop in order to get more hours for their ticket price. Luckily I have all of you to try it out before we go on our next trip. I am sure that you will give me good info and I will plan accordingly.

Who only likes the extra hours so she does not have to rush for the bus or fight for a seat.

I'm wondering what the MYW non-hopping tickets (unless the hopping option is purchased) will do to crowds at the EMH, both morning and evening.

I think it could go either way. Either the park will be a lot more crowded during the day since as many people won't be tempted or even able to hop. Or the evening EMH will be less crowded than it otherwise would have been since people who haven't planned to be in the EMH park that day will not be able to attend the evening opening.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out. There have been a lot of major changes in a short period of time!

Hopefully this first evening EMH was extra crowded because it was the tail end of the holiday crowd.

I was under the impression that it was for resort guest only, AND you had to get your wrist band less than 2 hours prior to park closing. Meaning, that you either had to be at whatever park was doing emh, OR you have to have the park hopper option, and be there within the time frame. So resort guest who do not have the park hopper option, and lets say go to MGM on the night MK does emh, would have to buy a one day ticket to MK, in order to do it? Does that make any sense??

** I just saw your post........ yeah, that is exactly what I mean.!!! LOL

They did not have fast pass operating during EMH. They were handing out the bracelets when we got there about 2 hours before park closed all the way until the park closed. We are going to be here tomorrow night when AK will have the EMH and we are not going to go due to the limited amount of rides available. On Wednesday it is EMH for MK we are going to go in the morning. I am hoping people will go later knowing they are staying later. We will have to see.

Yes, it is only for resort guest.

The wrist bands are given out no earlier than 2 hours before normal park closing. So if the park is scheduled to close to the public at 6, you can't get a wristband until 4 OR LATER. You can still enter at 7 and get a wristband.

Does anyone know why they let off-site guests stay in the park during evening EMH?It seems like that even though they can only shop and eat, this will make the park more crowded

Shopping and eating are two ways Disney makes money! Sounds brilliant to me to fill the park with people who can only do those two things! :earboy2:

They do it because they make money when people shop and eat, especially when they can't do anything else.

MGM was the only park we were planning on for the evening EMH, but if it's so crowded maybe we will skip it. I guess we could give it a try and then hop over to Epcot if it's too crowded.

Has anyone noticed that morning EMH is LESS crowded now that they have it in the evening too?

That is interesting... someone mentioned before that getting up to go to the morning magic hour is much more difficult than the evening, and as such, will that mean the morning will be much emptier than it used to be?

I have a feeling that the evening magic hours are not going to be nearly as nice as E Rides were. I bet the mornings will be more worthwhile than the evenings.

Anxiously awaiting more reports from DISers...

I am worried that the EMH nights might be more crowded than E ticket nights. I am sure that charging for E ticket nights kept the crowds down sufficiently. Now that it's a "free" perk to onsite guests, will parks be miserably packed with people?

I know I will utilize the EMH nights while we never did the E tickets. I am one that hated the EMH mornings because I didn't want to get up that early. Nights are much better for us because we don't even get to the parks until after 2pm. I imagine the nights will be much more crowded because of this.

I just read a post from another diser and there were fast passes at EMH sorry I didn't realize it.

I don't know why you wouldn't go to AK in the evening. The Boneyard, DINOSAUR, Festival of the Lion King, It's Tough to be a Bug!, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris Primeval Whirl, Tarzan Rocks! & Triceratop Spin are all going to be open. That is essentially the entire park except the trails and Pocahontas show.

I know the safari was not open there were signs everywhere saying the last safari was at 4:30. Also no Kali river rapids. According to my sheet that I picked up the following are open Boneyard
Dinosaur, Festival of the LIon King (two shows) tough to be a bug, Primeval whirl, Tarzan rocks (1 show) and triceratops spin. We went to MGM instead and went to fantasmic with at 6:45 for a 7:00 show. We walked right in and got some of the last seats. Afterwards we got on the first bus that came to go back to the resort. I really think the EMH at AK made MGM more managable. We were at AK until about 3:30 today and it was crowded. I would be interested to hear from somone who went to AK EMH tonight.

Yes, my mistake Kali and the Safari will only be open during EMH on a seasonal basis.

I suppose it depends when you go and what you want to do. The problem with MGM is that they close some of the attractions you would want to do and that suck up a lot of people. Indiana Jones is closed, the backlot tour is closed, etc. I think they closed way too many attractions. They also closed the ABC Commisary which was stupid, we thought. Lots of people kept walking up there to get food.

The mermaid show, which is very, very good, is such a big draw, it is busy all day. The same holds true for ToT and RnRRC. Still, we were able to ride with minimal wait using FP and single rider lines. The rider switch also saved us a ton of time with a baby who turned one in Disney. To us, getting there before opening is THE thing to do if you don't want crowds.

Are the crowds bad right now in general or is it only seeming crowded during EMH? Is it due to the marathon and other stuff going on? I was looking forward to going to Ak at night but with now safari we might skip it after all. I am really hoping for low crowds in a couple of weeks!
