I swear by ginger. I used to take Dramamine and it worked but I was so dopey with it. Now I use ginger about 3 days prior to the cruise until a day or two into the cruise and bring ginger candies (make sure they are ginger and not just ginger flavored) and it works like a charm!

I am a big fan of ginger snaps - you get the ginger and something in your stomach in one fell swoop. The ginger altoids are easier to transport though.

oh and i finally took pics of DS's new Mickey bathroom- thanks Disney shopping clearance! i painted over the existing awful wallpaper we had. and i was finally able to use some old postcards and posters i had for the walls!

Love it, I have to photograph my 1/2 bath, its all disney...sink and all...

Your bathroom is very cute! You did a great job!:thumbsup2
Has anyone seen the house hunters show a wile back in NOLA. The woman had nothing but Disney stuff in her house. It was unbelievable.

I must be lucky I have never had sea sickness or motion sickness. On my first cruise I brought Bonnie but never used it.:goodvibes I was told by some of our dining companions that you need to take something as soon as you start feeling sick. Don't wait or you may need to go to the infirmary. They can give you a shot that will take care of the sea sickness, but it is not cheap!

oh please do- i can't wait to see it!

never saw the house hunters show- i'll have to try and find it online.

you can't even imagine my shock when DH said 'sure' to me ordering disney bathroom stuff. for a long time i think he held a grudge againt disney because i left him for a semester (we were living together) to go work on the WDWCP. obviously it worked out. :confused3 :thumbsup2 but i still think he was pissed i chose to leave and work at WDW and leave him for 4-5 months. maybe he is finally over it. Or having a kid softened him up. :rotfl:

Are there Ginger pills? The Less Drowsy Dramamine makes me pretty drowsy. I can only imagine what the other stuff would do.

I got ginger pills just in case for my last cruise. I got them at CVS I think, in the herbal section. I'm pretty sure they have them at GNC.

I went and checked out the stuff for a new bathroom...under $100....not too bad. I wonder how it would look with lime green painted walls???

Maybe like a decoupage under glass?:confused3 :confused3

mickey shaped would be awesome- but can't imagine that- would be very custom? what about a mickey shaped toliet? :rotfl: :rotfl2:

For all of the potentially queasy cruisers - I have one word for you: BONINE!

200.jpg

It's an over the counter, chewable, daily, non-drowsy, motion sickness preventative.

Both DH and I are prone to motion sickness. We start taking this little miracle pill every morning about 5 days prior to the cruise. Keep taking it every morning on the cruise and take it for a few days afterward (until you get your sea legs back - you can actually be a little wobbly after you get off the ship - DH gets this more than I do).

It really, really helps. The best solution to sea sickness is to never get sick in the first place. If you allow yourself to get sick, then you're fighting an uphill battle.

The first night out, as the ship cruises away from Florida, it is usually a little bumpy. Something about the currents that run parallel to the coast and the fact that the ship is traveling pretty quickly. If you're susceptible, you may also notice that you may feel the ship's motion in certain areas of the ship more than others. I find that I am more aware of that motion in the theater where the shows are and in Parrot Cay.

You'll be fine. If you feel yourself beginning to feel sick, make sure you get out on deck and get some fresh air. The wind on your face. It helps me to be able to see the horizon too - but that may not be the same for everyone.

Edited to add: I was posting at the same time as Brandie! Similar guidance from us both!

Bonine worked very well for my mom this past November on her first cruise. She is not prone to motion sickness so she did not take it in advance. She just carried some with her while on the ship. She was fine the entire cruise until the last night when we had very rough seas. She was sitting at dinner unable to eat and feeling very Nauseous. She said it looked like the whole room was swaying. I suggested she take one of her Bonine tablets. Within 10 minutes she was chowing down and feeling fine. She said the pill worked like magic. I do however agree that if you think you might be prone to motion sickness, start taking them several days before the cruise and continue through the duration of the cruise.

Ginger capsules/pills. I got them at GNC. I had a friend in Florida who got them at Walmart, but I've never found them at Walmart around here. You can also used crystalized ginger.

Man, I love that lady!!

Confession time. When I was in high school I was what some might call um a prude. I was teacher's pet. Everyone loved me. So, when I went into the office and asked to make copies, no one cared. Sure, go ahead. What was I doing? Making copies of an article from Cosmo that went into great detail on how to "lick ice-cream cones". I only found the article because I worked for a very conservative grocery store that would not sell the magazines that talked about Dr. Ruth related issues. So, every once in awhile, I'd have to pull magazines. That was the one and only naughty thing I ever did in high school. I bet half of my teachers till remember that one.

Thanks for the advice on motion sickness. I can get sick laying on a raft in a lake. So, it doesn't take much. I don't get motion sickness in cars, but I used to. I do get sick on Star Tours. Can't ever do that again. Seriously, I'm not a lush, but I would like to be able to enjoy a drink. So, I just want to be able to take something that is not drowsy and where I can drink. And, I don't think I like ginger.

It's the quiet ones you gotta watch!!!

i was so sick while pregnant (weeks 8-15), that i was on zofran and phenegran both. but my insurance would only allow me like 10 zofran per month (covered anyhow). I was supposed to be taking 2 per day to just get by and manage. Talk about dying. those zofran were like gold. :rotfl: they are expensive though. i tried the ginger root, ginger candy, sour pops, lemon drops, the seabands, crackers, gingerale, all the usual remedies. zofran was the only thing that helped. phenegran made me sleepy- not good for work. :rotfl:

Did you have hyperemesis gravidarum? I had that with pregnancy #3. I took Zofran. Sooo expensive!
