Trying to reply to all thank you all for replying never intended it to be this big a thread lol was just venting
my main complaint is that all other limited edition magic bands on sale for 29.99 made a sound at the entrance scanner AND THE FAST PASS+ points all day. Now the bands coming out costing 32.99 a 12% difference only work 1 time when showing off their special effect only at the entrance as in the gates to a park they. DO NOT DO EFFECT AT FAST PASS+ at all THEY INCRESED THE PRICE BUT TOOK AWAY THE MAGIC
I'm going to GUESS that it will WORK everywhere like any other MB.
But, it may not make its special sound anywhere but the entrance gate(??)
Is that what you're upset about?
yes you are correct I'm upset that in raising the price on a limited item they took away some of what makes it special.
I can't tell you how much I wish that was the extent of my problems. But... whatever!
and that is totally justifiable this is honestly just first time Disney has ever let me down
Here is my advice and just take it for what it is worth to you. To me, this is a very minor concern and I wouldn't spend any time giving it a second thought. You don't even know if it is accurate. Just don't sweat the small stuff. Of course, "small stuff" is different from person to person.
Oh-and have fun.
well everyone who's had one hs confirmed they never worked obce inside the gate the Santa valentines and Easter. While all previous bands did work throughout the parks. I agree it is a small complaint but I know for some people they would like to know this before buying as magic bands are non refundable but I still love Disney and can't wait to return just upset as I was really loving the special magic bands I will still have fun in a couple weeks
yes it's a complaint
Cameron ~ take the MagicBand and the receipt and you can get a refund when you reach the parks. To have paid $33 for something that will make you unhappy every time you scan it at the FP Tapstile, just return it.
I've called and they said magic bands are non refundable and honestly I don't like asking for a refund to begin with. But I do like it just felt like part is missing lol
I understand you're upset, but… I guess I don't understand.
I love this board.
it's okay I wasn't In best abilities to be typing yesterday but basically the special bands got a raised price increase but the ones that cost more now only do hire effect at the entrance gate of the park they no longer work at fast pass points as the cheaper ones do
OP, I would maybe shorten your letter to be a bit more to the point and just recheck (or have someone else do it) your capitalization and grammar.
well I already sent it I may send a second one that's a little neater buy as I said I was in the hospital Ina Previous reply I was in hospital when writing .
To everyone responding: please try and show a little compassion. Trust me.
thank you very much I was honestly just venting out my feelings as I've seen other people on the board do /:
Understood!
I am struggling to understand what your complaint is about. Are you angry because you paid extra money for a holiday magic band, and have discovered they already make a special sound for people and you think they shouldn't yet as it isn't close enough to the holiday? You are seriously worried that your entire vacation will be ruined because you will only potentially hear a chirp upon entering a park and not at a fast pass tapstile? I'm sorry, but for someone that can apparently afford to travel to Disney multiple times per year, to be that upset about a relatively small price increase for an unnecessary perk seems a tad unreasonable.
I'm mad at paying more for a LIMITED release band that doesn't work like the ones I paid less for while the old ones did thier effect on both the entrance to park gates and the fast pass points all of the newly priced ones only work at the entrance to park
I think it's great that you wrote Disney with your concern. Hopefully they can clear up any misunderstandings. Maybe you can get a refund if it doesn't work they way you thought it did. Good luck and I hope you have a great trip!
Thank you very much

I hope so too and despite this issue I'm still counting down the days!!
This. You expected more from what you purchased and it didn't deliver. I know you are disappointed, so I would agree the best thing might be to take it back and get your money back. No need to let a magic band ruin your trip.
I did I expected when I paid more that it would at least do the same as the ones that were cheaper not less and magicbands are nonrefundable sadly
Disney is the happiest place on earth...but it's apparent this board isn't. I guess every where in life you will find the rude people. Looking for things to poke fun at. What do people call them? Internet trolls? He didn't ask if you liked his letter or his grammar. In the words of thumper. "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."
first off I LOVE THUMPER

and thank you for kind words
Sorry you are disappointed. Now that you know, you can decide if you want to keep it or return it. $33 seems like a lot to hear a bird chirp- even 4 times a day, but certainly only once.
oh no the older ones starting with last years Halloween band give you a minimum of four effects depends how many fast passes you can get now these more expensive bands only work 1 time a day at the park main entrance they don't work at the fast pass plus touch points anymore
I am sorry, it would be fun to have the band make the special effect sound each time you use it. It's a shame they changed it, maybe they were very expensive to manufacture.
well I found a guy who blogs about it and he was saying the fact it can do it once means it's programmed and the removal of fast pass touch points had to be a choice from Disney I agree though it really sucks and then not giving any warning to the buyer who expect it to do what the ones they've seen or used in past
I have one of the bands that triggers a sound and I've never had it be quiet enough in a park environment to actually hear the sound.
I love just seeing the lights lol but I've heard mine howl like 7 times one night it was so much fun
Cameron,
I get it! I bought this band...I am not a frequent traveler to Disney, but we will be there on Easter so I bought one thinking it would be fun. It's also close to my birthday so I gave myself a little treat even though the limited edition bands are expensive. I was disapointed to learn it will only light up and chirp at the entrance. I think the band itself is pretty cute though and since it says 2016 inside I think I'm going to use it as a Christmas tree ornament. My children will enjoy seeing the special sounds and hearing the chirp...if it acutally happens, and if we can hear it. lol. But I understand your disapointment! I think it's good you wrote to Disney. Speaking up as consumers is valuable, even if it doesn't immediately change anything. And I totally think you should return it if you're unhappy. Nevertheless I hope you have a happy Easter and get to enjoy some extra pixie dust on your trip

!!
I hope y'all have a happy Easter too! And a great trip yourself!! I'm glad I finally found someone who feels similar lol I think it's unfair I like you think the band design wise looks great so idk if I wanna return or use I takes to Disney and they said magicbands aren't refundable :/ thank you
how do you feel about the new tiered pricing I was sure that's what this would be about
Disney is gonna keep raising prices on tickets I've wired my brain to accept this and for me that seems trivial lol
No one is being a "troll" – people are simply pointing out that, to them, this is a bit of an overreaction.
OP, sorry you're disappointed. If this is the worst thing to happen to you Disney-wise, I think things are pretty good. Look at all the complaints on this board about far worse!
I agree while a little harsh they are just saying they had trouble understanding what I was upset about oh trust me I know I'm lucky Disney is always so good it's just that you know first crack in your new car windshield lol
I don't know. It only took me a sentence or 2 to figure out his complaint. There are all levels of disappointment and this is just one of them. Overall, the complaint could be much more than a magic band. All over Disney World I see costs rising and consumers getting less. It's the "New Disney Trend" and we'd all be well served to be quiet and just be darned happy about it. (insert tongue in cheek emoticon here). I would be major disappointed if I anticipated my magic band chirping and it didn't.
This thread serves a purpose; I just saved $33.00. That might just cover the cost of a dole whip or a Disney Starbucks coffee.
that and venting was my intention to give a heads up hey this only works once instead of all day but Disney raised the price and said NOTHING
Glad you understood thanks

enjoy that dole whip!
But it being an over reaction isn't for anyone to justify. To each their own. Y'all need to eat some pixie dust and quit being nasty.
lol thank you I was just trying to get out some steam on an already bad day and it all just came out poorly
I know how you feel, OP -- I paid $29 for a LE Haunted Mansion purple MB, and it doesn't trigger so much as a "boo" at any tapstyle or FP+ Mickey head. I agree with you. The higher priced MBs should offer more value.
or at least on box descibe where and what they do I love that band!! I never got a chance to get it
Hi Cameron,
At first I dismissed your complaint. But realized it was obviously important to you, and you paid good extra money for something that doesn't do what you want it to. We all get pleasure out of different things on a Disney vacation... sometimes including little things that might seem silly to others.
I can imagine that it could be a lot of fun to hear a special sound all day, every time you scan your band. It makes a great conversation piece, and how much enjoyment it would be for other guests (and even some CMs!) to hear a surprising and amusing sound come out of a routine scan!
Sure, you could just return the magic band at a shop, and then move on unsatisfied as most people would do. But then Disney would never know why it was returned. Since you have told them, they can decide what to do with that information and you have done his part. If enough people agree, then at least the company has the choice to act upon it. Who knows? Maybe management didn't even realize there was an IT problem with the Easter band!
Hopefully they will offer a refund, because with the functionality as described, I would agree that it would be less valuable to me.
thank you for not fully dismissing me! And like you said I just wanted to send up to Disney a wave so they can see if something is wrong or maybe rethink a choice made, what bugs me is the price increased bands are the ones that got stripped of magic
I'd return it. But I also would not buy a magic band when I get a fully functioning free one. I do get the buyers remorse though, was there not a thorough description of features when you bought it?
nope they come in decorated boxes but they don't print the effect it's meant to be a surprise you hear throughout your day now ppl buying in park have a chance they will never hear it as they are already in the park :/
Thank you for this reminder. Sometimes we need a little hint.
Hi Cameron. I also thought the complaint was minor but then I gave it a bit more thought. One of the problems that I see over and over is the quality of some Disney Shops merchandise. More money for a product that is not well made. The Christmas Lights were an example of a product that just did not live up to it's price.
I agree that returning the band makes sense, I would do that. But I also think that your complaint is valid and that Disney should know that the expensive bands they sell are not waht they are presumed to be. Personally, I am too cheap to buy one, but I admit that I do wish I had one of those special ones. If I did spring for a special band, I would expect it to measure up to it's hype, whatever that was.
As a company, Disney continues to upcharge a lot of things that we can also get for free and I imagine that at the end of the year they have boosted their coffers, all with the little extras that people Choose to add to make their experience a little ore fun and personalized just for them. If they leave their jests with buyers remorse over these extra purchases, they may wish they had a few more people willing to share their thoughts about items that did not live up to reasonable expectation.
thank you and I can say the ones dating before Santa were all awesome and well worth it to have that touch of magic all day
I guess if a notice or warning about the loss of effect would have been nice but then they knew ppl would not purchase
Magic bands are non refundable sadly
In all honesty if you think the replies here are nasty, a public message board is not the place for you. You are going to be offended left and right. This board does have great moderators, and if anything gets out of hand or nasty, they will quickly jump in. Not agreeing with someone doesn't automatically make that poster nasty.
I also agree that if the band is going to upset the OP when they use it, the best thing is to return it. We have all purchased something that wasn't quite what we have expected. No shame in returning it.
magic bands are non refundable
So you are saying it's ok to raise the price but have less affect?
