I've been to DL a number of times as a child/teen, but this was my first trip to DW. This was my husbands first trip to anything Disney and my son's (2 years old) first trip. My mom and step dad were with us part of the time.
Our first day was Epcot. We got there early and waited at the turnstiles for the park to open. I was so excited and nervous. I wasn't sure how the crowds would be, and wasn't sure what to expect. This was also the first time at a park opening. We never got there that early for DL.
When the park opened we followed the crowd and we were right behind the rope. We were aimed for Test Track while my dh was going to get Soarin Fast Passes for us. The characters came out and did their thing. I was honeslty too nevous/excited that I don't remember much of it. Then the rope dropped and off we went. Oh dh said he saw them pick out the family of the day. They just picked them from the crowd right by him.
Once dh met us. My step-dad, husband and I rode TT while my mom stayed with my son. It was fun, not my favorite, but fun. Then we went to Mission Space. I rode the tame version with mom, while dh rode the regular one. Afterwards I went back on with dh to ride regular version while my parents took my son to the Living Seas. MS was fun, not bad like I expected from all the news on it.
Then we went to the Land Pavillion. I grabbed FP from Living with the Land and we went to ride Soarin. I LOVED it. We did a switch ticket and I rode it twice. So much fun, I loved the fireworks at the end, and how you could smell the orange groves at one point.
After that we ate at the restaurant in there. I had the flatbread with the chicken which was great. Not everyone loved their lunch though. We then went on Living. My son did well on it. He seemed to like it quite a bit. I enjoyed and was bummed I left my camera with the stroller. After that we did the Figment ride which my son did not like. It was too loud for him and though he doesn't mind the dark, he doesn't like it when it's super loud AND dark. We then went to go check out the line for Turtle Talk, but it was really long, and we thought it was a good time to go back to my parents timeshare and rest. I did take some photos though. This photo is just kind of cool.
It looks like they are really in the water since I underexposed it.The three of us then decided to go while my parents stayed.
We stopped by Character Connection on the way out. This was my sons first encounter ever with characters. As for photos, I'm a photographer and most meet and greets are a natural light, non posing photographer's nightmare, but the pictures are priceless none the less. Everytime we did this the photographers kept trying to get my son to look and smile at the camera. He just ignored them because he has no idea what that is all about. LOL. I kept trying to tell them it was okay if he wasn't looking at me, LOL!
He met Mickey first and was very apprehensive.
Pluto was next, but he was kind of scared of him. Donald was next and he held out his arms and surprisingly my son went running. He didn't even know who DD was till that moment, but he loved him.
Minnie was next whom he adored. She was the first one who got a kiss, but I didn't get a shot of that this day. I think I got some later in the week though.
By the time we got to Chip and Dale he was loving it. Interacting with the characters was his favorite part by far.
We also rode Spaceship Earth on the way out. My son HATED it. It was too loud and dark. He cried the whole time calling for "Gramaw." Poor kid, I didn't really get to take in much of it for that reason.
We went home, napped and then my husband and I went back while son stayed with my parents. We went to Mexico and shared a Fiesta Margarita which was very yummy. We rode the boat ride and then went to Norway and rode Maelstrom which I really liked. By that time we decided to get a quick bite to eat before Illuminations started. We went to the Fish and Chips CS. It was all right, but I wasn't too impressed. I thought Rose and Crown had CS, but all I could find was the other place. We then saw Illuminations, not the greatest view, but still nice. Afterwards we walked around WS and then headed home. It was a great day!
