First Dinner at MK. Where to eat?

Hi Everyone!

My very first post!

We're going to WDW in February. My DD is 5 1/2 and is going to be in love! We made reservations for CRT for the 2nd night, so where should we go the first night? And we have a reservation for the 1900 character breakfast on Sunday.

I was thinking of Ohana or Narcoossee. I want her to be wowed. Should we stay in the park?

Her food tastes are on the adult side (loves sushi and fruit and veggies). My husband prefers good food. We also have a 1 y/o (who eats everything!).

IMO you have to meet the Main Mouse so i recommend Chef Mickeys at the Contemporay Resort.

If you want to stay in the park we love Crystal Palace but Ohana is also really good! And no it is no problem to go to Poly. Only about a 15 minute commute or so by monorail.

If she likes Pooh, Tigger and friends, you could try Crystal Palace. It is in MK so you wouldn't have to leave the park. I have read reviews that the dinner buffet is really good, we did breakfast there and it was really good and the characters were awesome.

No problem getting to the Poly or GF, just a short monorail ride away.
Ohana's is very yummy and has some fun activities they do with the kids.
It is too bad you can't get into CM's.

Keep chcking everyday for CM you might be able to get a cancellation.

I would go to Crystal Palace. It's a favorite of ours, and the characters are Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. How could she not be thrilled? Dinner is buffet style, and although they have a "kids' section", everyone is welcomed to eat everything. She'll have plenty of choices and won't be stuck eating nuggets, burgers, or dogs... and there are the Pooh Guys!!

With kids that age you want to make sure they aren't afraid of the characters at first. Sometimes it takes little ones a while to warm up to them. So, if they see them from afar in the park first it might be easier when the characters come to the table at a meal.
With that said, I like the suggestions of Crystal Palace and 'Ohana. If you know your kids won't be afraid of Pooh and Friends, I would suggest that one. We've eaten dinner there twice and loved it both times. However, if you are looking for good food and a good time I'd say go to 'Ohana. It is a must-do on every trip for our family. The littles ones can enjoy the coconut races and limbo. Everyone will love the food.
I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

If you stay in MK - I recommend Tony's Town Square. Our kids love (ds 17, ds 7, dd 6) it!

Our first evening/night is always spent at MK. We use to eat dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern when it was a character meal, but it is no longer a character meal. We now eat at Tony's or counter service at Casey's. Our kids don't like to leave MK once we arrive there on the first day.

Okay, we can get into the Crystal Palace. We're not really buffet people and I'm not sure she cares for Pooh and Tigger.

I assume California Grill would be bad for a 1 y/o, right?

We always do Crystal Palace for breakfast, but if you are not a buffet family I would not encourage it. You might be set up for disappointment. As far as the California Grill, if you take your child to that type of restaurant normally then I would not hesitate. I would go if that is what I like. Another option, we really like Kona Cafe at the Poly.

Yep, what she said!! We have had every meal in Crystal Palace, and it's the first choice for picky DH. Kids enjoy it and everyone can find something to eat. It's nice to stay in MK, b/c you can jump right back into the fun. Poly is an easy ride away, if you want a change of scenery.
