First Day.....

Great thread :)
I thought I'd get an idea for our first trip. I go too many :teeth: ;)

MK for us too, We don't feel like were there until we have walked doen Main street and seen the castle :) We try to stay there all day until the fire works :goodvibes

We are always up very early so head straight to Walmart as this is the only thing open at 5-530 and follow this with our first all you can eat breakfast. :cool1:
after that we do which ever park is reccommended as being a good day to visit.

Magic Kingdom for us too - just becuase that is Disney - although it's not our favourite park!!!!

As we are always awake at the crack of dawn, we often take the opportunity for an early PS at Boma and then onto a Disney park - Epcot is our first morning tradition. Neither are cast in stone, but I can't imagine not doing a Disney park on our first day.

Our second day always involves shopping for clothes.

for are next trip in april 06 are 1st day will be shopping and mini-golf and some time by the pool then on day 2 will hit the parks :cool1:

For us we always go to Magic Kingdom. We even do this if the guidebooks say it's busy and best avoided on that day Why? Because until I have walked up under the station and into Main Street I don't feel I have properly arrived. That's where the magic is, for my family Though MK is not our favourite park

We are exactly the same.

Our other tradition is always to see Illuminations on our last evening and then to finish with MK on our last day, even if it's only for a couple of hours :teeth:

when we were there last year we had a 8am character breakfast at crystal palace and then spent the rest of the day at MK  because like you i am not at disney untill i have been to MK :)

eve ::MinnieMo
Us too breakfast with Pooh
got in to the park before openning
which was a lovely way to start

but we try to see wishes the night we get there if we have time

For us, it's always Animal Kindgom first day. It's an easy to get round park without a lot of walking and we can have done everything by 3pm if we're there for opening (which obviously we will be, considering DW will wake up at 4am!).

A nice leisurely first day followed by a quiet meal and maybe a dip in the pool in the evening. Try my darndest to stay up to 10pm (but probably fall asleep in with the TV still on!) - want to try and get the body clocks on Florida time as soon as possible!

Then after that easy start, it's then go, go, go for the rest of the holiday!

And I'll be there on Thursday...

Now that I've had time to read through the whole thread (posted my original reply first before really looking), I'm surprised to see how many people are saying similar things like "it's not a trip to WDW until I've seen the castle".

Personally I don't get that, but then I have to admit I've always have been rather underwhelmed by the Magic Kingdom in Florida.

I'm not sure exactly why, because I DO like the park, but maybe it's because I'd already visited the ones in California and Paris and so it's images of those two that spring in to my mind when I think of the Magic Kingdom, not the Florida one.

Also on my first trip to Orlando, MK was the last park that we did, so maybe because I had already been dazzled by Epcot, MGM, AK etc. as those were all completely new to me, that MK just didn't quite have that same 'WOW' factor.

wow - i wish that i could go to a theme park on my first proper day in florida!

i am usually zonked from the flight and not being able to sleep because of jetlag.

i usually check out the pool, stay near to the hotel for the first day.

We tend to go to Universal but maybe just for the morning only.

Couldn't face Magic Kingdom on our first day. Although it is probably our joint favourite park (along with US), it is more tiring and we tend to go there 3 or 4 times during the holiday - certainly not on the 1st day though.

Next year our first day is driving to Fort Lauderdale for a few nights before returning to Orlando.

To be honest our holidays have never always been just about Disney, it's about going to Florida and we always try and spend a lot of time away from the theme parks, although that is changing more and more as our son certainly has his own favourites now (MK & US).

We have a lie in and then go shopping don't think i could face going to a park on the first day as i don't cope to well when tired.
