We are arriving at CR on June 4. We are staying there for two nights, then moving to Kidani Village. While we are at Kidani, we will be on the dining plan, but not while at CR. We aren't planning on going to a park that first day, but I am at a loss as to where to eat that first night. I want to be back at our room in time to watch Wishes (TPV-room woo hoo) but don't think I want to eat at CR (family of fairly picky eaters:confused:). I am at a loss for this meal. Any suggestions?

ETA: Its me, DH, and DS3.

Am I correct in understanding you don't like any of the restaurants in the Contemporary? I was going to suggest Chef Mickey's or the Wave.

Since you are on the Monorail line, you could try any of the restaurants at the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian. You are also close to Wilderness Lodge.

Another option would be Downtown Disney. There are a variety of restaurants there.

Good luck! :)

We are doing Chef Mickey a different day for breakfast. I would like the restaurants, but since the others are a little pickier, I don't know that they would. I thought about planning on doing T-Rex, and if my son wants to stay in and swim and such, eating at Contempo Cafe. At least that way I would have options!

Being so close to Fort Wilderness, you might try the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. It's a limited menu, but our family has found it's a really fun way to start a vacation at the World.

Our favorite first night meal is Ohana! And it's just a short monorail ride away from the CR.

We are doing Hoop De Doo another night...I can't wait for it!

I'll check out O'hana...it looks really neat!

We usually try to make our first night an easy night. We are always tired from travel. I would stay nearby for sure. We try for a relatively early bedtime so everyone is rested for the week ahead.
Many folks like the Grand Floridian Cafe. I have not been there, but I believe it is fairly "low key" with good food. It would be an easy Monorail ride away.
Good Luck

Our first night meal has been TRex for our past few trips. Downtown Disney is usually what we do on the first night to just relax and get our feet ready for the next week of hitting the parks. DS could not go on a vacation without eating there at least once.

I definitely suggest taking the monorail to Ohana! If you don't feel like going back to your room, they also dim the lights and pipe in music for Wishes at Ohana (although we've had a Magic Kingdom view room at the CR and it's AWESOME :goodvibes ) Have a great trip!!

O'hana looks great...of course it's all booked that night! I'm going to keep trying to get it...if not, we will go to plan B. Now, to figure out a plan B!

The Wave, Ohana, Kona Cafe, or Narcoossee's would be my first resort restaurant suggestions.
