First day a little less magical than usual...

Perhaps after going to Disney too many times, you come to expect a certain level of quality that isn't always attainable. Its part of what sets Disney apart from other theme parks and destinations.

Even though the little things seem just than; little, they still add up to disappoint a bit.

We brought family members to Disney World for their first time ever.

The first thing I noticed was the lack of photo pass photographers. Where are they all? Did Disney do away with them? They used to be everywhere. The photo spots where they usually stand were empty (ie. in front of the castle, the bridge to tomorrowland, in front of the haunted mansion, etc). We couldn't find a single photo pass photographer outside of things like character spots and Enchanted Tales with Belle.

The strollers were a giant mess. I think we took for granted the people that help organize them but they were in complete disarray today. Some were on their sides, piled on others, etc. The usual cast members that help organize these areas were nowhere to be seen. The stroller parking areas in the areas around the Haunted Mansion, Tangled bathrooms and Columbia Harbor house were particularly bad. On our many past trips, there would always be cast members keeping these areas neat and tidy. Today there were none to be seen. I don't want to ever hear anyone complain about someone moving their stroller after today.

I heard a cast member yelling at another cast member to not leave her alone in front of an attraction as he yelled back he needed to "do something" while walking away. I have never seen cast members speak like that to one another in front of guests.

No music for Wishes at Top of The World Lounge. There was some instrumental guitar music and the people in the bar just said "sorry, there is nothing we can do" when people immediately started complaining about the lack of music. The couldn't/wouldn't even shut off the guitar music. The lack of music to wishes may not seem like a big deal to some people but others plan part of their trip around this show. Time at WDW is limited. We chose to leave the park, get drinks with our relatives and have them watch it for the first time ever from the roof. What a massive disappointment. We never would have left the park or would have gone back in had we known. We wasted an entire night show.

We never received a room ready text. We did get the text stating specifically that our room was not ready yet and that we would receive one later when it became ready. As 7pm came, we still had not heard.

On another tech issue, the Crystal Palace couldn't seem to get our magic bands to work with their scanner for our meal plan and had to do it manually. They said it was a problem with our account. When we got back to our hotel and contacted guest services, they placed on the blame on the restaurant and server and said the account is fine. Which is it? I guess we'll find out tomorrow. It didn't seem very Disney-ish, to place blame on another cast member.

Speaking of crystal palace...when you make a reservation for a time, you don't expect to have your name called 40 minutes later. What a waste of time that could be spent doing other things. Why even take reservations, if people are still going to wait 40 minutes after checking in?

None of these are terribly huge issues but combined, they take a bit away from the Disney experience/magic. I've come to expect a lot from them and this is the first time, I noticed cracks in the paint. I'd like to think it was just an off day and hope its not a sign of things to come.

Perhaps yesterday was a bit of an anomaly. The stroller wranglers and photo pass people seemed to be back out there and it was very noticeable. Not sure what was going on yesterday.

I'm sorry your first day was a disappointment :(

That must have been so frustrating. I would have felt the same way, especially with a family that's never been - you just want it to be perfect, right? And, you want everyone to love it as much as you do, right? I get it.

Sending hugs and hopes that tomorrow is better :)
