Do you remember your first date with your current Significant Other, even if it was decades ago?

I met DW in college way back in late 1979 during exam week. She was a freshman and I was a "pre-junior" (3rd year of 5 year program). When the next semester started in 1980 we started hanging out, and after about a month we went to see the movie "10" (Bo Derek) followed by a late night snack at a 24 hour diner.

We dated the rest of the semester, but then she transferred to a different college. We tried to keep in touch, but then drifted apart. Eventually we both ended up marrying other people.

In 1999, after we were both divorced, she found me on AOL and we started dating again. Moved in together after about a year, and eventually got married in 2011.

My husband drove an hour and a half to meet me (we met online.) We went out to dinner, got a drink at a bar, saw a movie, then got another drink because we were having such a nice time. We then saw each other every other weekend until he proposed 10 months later.

We met at a large bookstore. He asked me for coffee right then and there. December 15, 2000. I had an eggnog latte, he had a latte, no foam. We talked for three hours and I knew that night that I'd marry him. Ten months later, I did.

Nov 10, 2007. We went to a local Mexican restaurant where we both ended up watching the local college hockey game more than talking. (discovered we both had a love for hockey) We still do the exact same thing on the anniversary weekend of our first date.

Does Netflix and chill count? :upsidedow

I met my SO at a bar. I was there with a friend and he was friends with my friend. He asked for my number in a joking way and after being married for 8 years I didn't even realize he was into me. For the next 9 months or so we would chat here and there as friends. I was going through my divorce so I was preoccupied with my new life as a single mom and getting my divorce finalized.

Then one night in November, about 9 months after he got my number, he asked me to meet him at a night club so me and another friend went. We stayed for an hour and when we left she started hounding me telling me he's so into me and wth was my problem. Oops. It honestly didn't click.

The following weekend I was making this pasta dish I love. My kids were with their dad and they didn't like the meal anyway. So I asked him to come over and watch a movie and eat dinner.

After that we slowly developed into a relationship. Talking much more, going out places, etc. we casually dated for about a year before meeting each other's family or him meeting my kids. After that year we decided to take it to the next level. Eight months after that we moved in together.

We'd been friends for years before we started dating, but our first "official" date was Mazzio's Pizza on Range Line Road in Joplin, Missouri. I asked for Pepsi and they brought me Diet Pepsi (strange, the little details the human brain remembers).

We didn't really have a first date. But we did spend 8 hours in a van driving to Wisconsin, and then 8 hours back over a long weekend.

We met in a bar so it wasn't really a first date. I took him home (get your minds out of the gutter) and dropped him off. He called me the next morning and we met out at a local park.

It would depend on what you call a date. My honey and I have been together for 24 years, aren't married but live to together. We worked at the same company and knew and flirted with each other and were best friends for about a year before we got together. I'm 13 years older than him and he is only 10 years older than my son so I really never thought it was more than flirting. We got very drunk at an office going away party for a colleague, use your imagination about what happened next. We started "seeing" each other after that but I didn't want anyone to know because of the age difference and because we worked together. It took about 6 months for us to actually go out in public together. Longest one night stand in the history of one night stands.

First day was a coffee date. We had coffee and took a walk along the quay/ river. There he asked me if I wanted to go Swing Dancing with him the following week as he use to go each week. That was a bit of an odd day since his friend came long with us even though we had a great timr. Luckily he didn't come on most of the rest of our following dates. Lol.

This was my thinking too. We are the same age but I had wo kids and an ex husband. He was a bachelor living the carefree single life. I never thought it was anything more than chatting and flirting just to kill time.

We travelled about an hour and a half away to attend a pow wow. We spent so much time just talking that day we found we really had a lot in common.

Met the DH online... so after 1.5 years of online chats and phone calls, we both traveled to Chicago so we'd both be in neutral territory, and spent 5 glorious days together. By the end of the 3rd, I had decided I was going to marry him if he asked. Thankfully he did! :D

Just celebrated nine years this past April... :)

We first met through a fellow dance coach who partnered us up together to make a dance couple. For a few months before our first date, we had dinner together and went out with groups of friends. Our first actual "date" actually happened after our first kiss which he surprised me with randomly after a long night of practice.

He took me to a swing dance event in Manhattan called, "Midsummer Night Swing." We got ice cream on the way back to him dropping me home (it was really late). I remember him being so sweaty I didn't even want to kiss him goodnight. His shirt was drenched. His charm got the better of me though, and I'm glad it did. That was the night that I knew there was definitely something more than just a professional partner to him.

That was 3 years ago now, and we're due to get married this August. It's been an amazing journey.

We still go to the same event every summer as an "anniversary date."

Our first date was an undate

We went to high school together but definitely did not hang out. 20 years after graduation we became friends on Facebook and exchanged the odd comment. Then, another classmate went on a huge tangent against him and I defended him (she was saying how he was weird and pervy for being into action figures. It's not my thing but it doesn't make someone bad for liking them).

I PM'ed him and we started talking from there. After a while, we decided to 'meet' in person and Valentines Day was coming up so we picked that day as a protest to the day lol

He came over and I made him lasagna and all the fixings. After supper we just hung out and talked. To be totally honest..I wasn't interested at ALL. I won't air all his laundry but he was used to living alone and was very rough around the edges.

I don't know what it was but something clicked one day and we've been together since.

Yes. She invited herself to go with me to my College Homecoming in 1980. She had to take a day off work to go with me since she worked weekends. We had worked together for 2 years at that point. We had done almost weekly social events with a group of about 10 co-workers, but never did something with just the two of us before. I was pretty career focused at that point, I wasn't one of those people looking for a relationship. She was less career focused.
The date was an eye opener for her. She lived at home while in College, and really had no social ties to anyone at her college. I went to a private residential college 50 miles away, and I was in a fraternity, so we had ENTIRELY different college experiences. My fraternity sat on a hill behind one of the goal posts where we had a Civil War era signal cannon that we fired every time our team scored a goal.....which wasn't every often. After the game there was a huge party back at the fraternity house. Apparently that didn't scare her off. We started dating regularly, and got engaged in 1981, a year after our first date, and got married in 1982. In 2 weeks that will have been 35 years ago.

Went to a now closed Mexican Restaurant and then to a local bar for drinks and dancing. Had a great night. :goodvibes

We were set up on a blind date by one of my high school teachers( friend of my Mom). We went two-steppin'. Our fist dance was to Ernest Tubb's "Waltz Across Texas". 4 months later we were married :)
