Hi! I'll be going on the Dream with my fiance in June, and it will be my first time going without my family. We would really like to sit alone at dinner for a more romantic cruise. I know we can request to not have table mates, but is there anything we can do to increase our chances? Is there a way we can put in a request before the cruise?

Also, I've always been told servers want to do whatever they can to make your experience more magical, including bringing you more than one dessert, etc., but you shouldn't abuse it. I've also seen conflicting stories saying it's common and acceptable to order multiple dishes, even of the main course. Can anyone shed some light on this? I'd love to order multiple things, but I don't want to take advantage of my servers.

Thank you!

You can call DCL and have the request placed on your reservation. They will point out that "it's just a request, yada, yada, yada". Just agree and ask for the request to be put there.

I've read that it's easier to accommodate this request if you're on late seating for dinner, but many people have reported being able to get their request even on early seating.

If there are multiple things you'd like to order, they are more than happy to bring them out to you. I've never felt that it was "abusing" my server to do so. And I never felt from my server that it was putting them out, either.

I agree with PrincessShmoo with both questions. I would also add to make sure you go to the dining room (check the first day navigator for which room) where there will be staff there to help with any dining issues the first afternoon after you board.

When I was on my honeymoon in the Mediterranean , I found out that we weren't given a table for two, but the head server told us he would work on it. We were switched after the first night. (We made sure our table mates knew it was our honeymoon and that was why we had requested the table for two.)

On my last cruise on the Dream, we went to the dining room and found out right away that our request was granted.

I called DCL directly and requested a table for 2 and we were accommodated. I know it's not guaranteed but it did happen for us. Although the tables are as close together as I had read about! No problem though.

We had no problem ordering multiple items. One night we skipped dessert because we wanted cookies and milk from room service and our servers kept trying to push dessert on us anyway. They seemed so worried. It was really cute! Enjoy your cruise. You will have a ball.

I occasionally order more than one appetizer or entrée, and have never experienced any problem when I did. A few times my server has suggested I order more than one if I'm having trouble deciding. DD(adult) has made a meal of appetizers or ordered off the kids menu. Order what you will, there'll be no bill.

They definitely don't mind you ordering more than one thing or re-ordering. Out last server would ask me every night if I wanted more of anything. In Royal Palace, both cruises we have ordered a soufflé and a crem brûlée and it was no big deal at all. They will even grab you something from another of the rotational restaurants if you can't find something on that menu you want (that is the one we haven't done yet and I wouldn't abuse but our last table mates were vegan so our server went and grabbed them the truffle pasta from Animators while we were in Enchanted.)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who orders two desserts:

Yeah lol. I think we're going to start doing it every night. The desert sizes are a little small in the other dining rooms plus there are so many choices lol

Well, I usually get the Sweet Temptations (3 small tastings of 3 of the desserts) that way I can try several. But, some nights I need the whole thing.

I've found that even debating about dishes in front of the service team means both of what you mentioned will end up on the table anyway. We once also sat with one couple who ordered an extra entree every night - none of the servers even blinked. It became a running joke, really.

Sorry, I may be missing it, but could someone help me out with the phone number to call to make the note on the reservation?
