After following the previous thread about Virgin PE "downsizing", which should we go for?.....have booked villa for 3 weeks next August, just seen flight prices out for First Choice. We flew with them PE last year and were very very pleased, but I have it in my head that to fly Virgin PE is the best. Opinions anyone?

Thanks very much.

I haven't flown with First Choice but have flown with Virgin every time we have been to Florida, which is a lot :)

Recently flew Premium Economy both ways with VA and was very impressed. Cabin crew, food, service , all excellent, extra baggage allowance, cases off the plane first, DTD check in meaning no hassle of taking luggage to airport , plus the extra leg room.
The biggest plus point is being sat upstairs in the 'bubble', there is so much room up there, aisles are wider and because the cabin crew just serve the upstairs section the whole feeling and atmosphere is more pleasant.

Downsides? well there is a huge difference between the upstairs seating and downstairs PE seating, especially when you consider it's the same price. Most people who have sat upstairs in PE would agree.
Also flying from Manchester the entertainment system on the MAN fleet is a bit outdated now, and we don't have the luxury of the new leather seats...however overall in my opinion well worth the money.
*edited to add I wish they would include a decent pen in the amenity pack, that is one that doesn't fall to bits when you use it*

I understand the First Choice planes whilst smaller are newer *correct me anyone if I am wrong* and I think their PE has leather seats too.
Personally with my son having special needs I wouldn't be that keen on flying into Sanford, which for us is a major downside, not necessarily for others.

If you have no real problem with Sanford, I would probably decide based on cost, especially as the overall price of a Florida holiday at the moment is very high. Virgin flying direct to MCO is an advantage in our circumstances (they just need to sort out the pen problem!)

Thanks for the info. Just out of interest, I think I read somewhere that the flights out of Heathrow are new and have the updated entertainment system? Do you know if this is right?

I have flown in both.

Both are very good, Virgin have an advantage in two areas, If you are in the "bubble" it is very quiet and cut off, FC is at the front of the plane and people from economy were constantly queuing in PE for the toilets and the cabin crew did nothing. Virgin's offering is far quieter when upstairs.

The other advantage is the fact you land at MCO and your bags are unloaded first and you are first off the plane.

Go with the cheapest.

Yes the Heathrow 747s have V-port, the MAN/LGW fleet have older entertainment systems, either Odyssey or Super Nova, depending on which aircraft you are on.

Imho BA WT+ is similar to VA PE in downstairs seating but without the priority baggage - which is a big plus at the end of a long flight - to be out of the airport ahead of the queues.

FCA is a chartered carrier into Sandford - VA and BA arent so dont think they are comparable really - its like going to buy an apple and coming back with a pear.

Have flown Premier in First Choice and thought this was great we had a lovely flight.

Flew with VA last sept ecconomy and didnt think much of this at all.

If you dont mind the drive from sanford then however havent flown PE VA before or with BA.

Only other thing for me is FC PE is dramatically cheaper usually too.
