Toby Keith, the patriotc guy?...Now I remember. He was the struggling Country artist who decided being a spokesman for red, white and blue, mom and apple pie would be good for business and has ridden the theme all the way to the bank.

I read an interview with a former bandmate who claimed his patriotism was nothing more than an appeal to 'his base' in hopes of scoring big...A ploy. Well, it worked I guess. Why anyone would admire him is beyond me though.

From what i have read about Toby Keith is tghat his red/white/blue song was a heartfelt belief and not a attempt/ploy to make more money, that would be the moronic dixie chicks.
And while im no fan of country music at all, i do like to have people release songs that are pro-american as most of the music industry lead by the big /idiot loser springsteen would perfer a communist country than the freedom they have to make idiots pf themselves!!!

To the two people who are on here just to spread misinformation and ******* let us remeber the nature of this thread. And for your info does it matter what was his reason for the song, and maybe the ex bandmate was just trying to get some revenge because Toby Keith was a huge star waaaaaayyyyy before that song. I am a country music fan, but not particularly of Toby Keith. However, my husband and son really enjoy his music. Just to be clear on this: Toby Keith was a huge success in country music long before his "Angry American" song. If you do not like the song, fine. But before you say he was a "struggling" singer before he milked the red white & blue, you should at least research his CD sales. I would think it would be easy on the internet. Furthermore, since my son has all his CDs (most purchased by me as gifts), I can say that only 2 of his many top 10 hits have anything to do with patriotism. His 1999 album was country's album of the year and he has recently released his second greatest hits CD.

Just because you do not like a performer, does not mean you are free to assume that that artist is without talent or merit to others.

I totally agree with Mitros. You have taken a post and highjacked it for your own personal depravity. I guess you couldn't find anything real to attack, so you just created something from your own imagination.

As for Charlie Daniels, I do not know him just as I do not know any celebrity. So I do not feel free to judge him. But like a lot of us, when young we are rebels; when we get older we find we aren't so much the rebels anymore. It must be fun knowing you personally and subject to your constant judging.

OK...One more try. I posted something I read awhile ago. It may or may not be true, but if it is and knowing Hollywoood the way we all do it would seem more prudent to believe it is true rather than not, right? Wouldn't you admire this guy a little less? I mean, it's ok to still like his music, like I said I love Ashly Judd's acting, but I don't hold her to some higher level and if you don't believe it's true, then read further...

For that matter I love Jimmy Buffett. I was actually given his personal seats at a concert once (long story) AND I totally agree with his politics, but would I walk across the street to watch him go by (if he wasn't going to perform? Not a chance). He's just another guy who gets up in the morning and puts his pants on one leg at a time, just like me...

Yeah, I read somewhere that a former bandmate of Marilyn Manson said that he didnt start playing devil music until he realized how many records he could sell. I also heard from Hollywood sources that Rush Limbaugh was spotted walking hand-in-hand with james carville down Main Street the other day. they were there to meet the Dixie Chicks & Toby keith at the Crystal Palace for a character lunch.
