First Camping Trip to DW-Fort Wilderness

We are getting ready for our first camping experience at DW the second week in July and wondered if someone could recommend a loop (we have a 32' TT) that would make a 6 & 3 year old happy! Thanks for any help you can give us.

Which type of site did you reserve? Premium, Preferred, etc.

It also depends on what your personal preferences are.

Would you like to be close to the marina (boats to MK, CR and the monorails), Settlement and external transportation or closer to the pool, campfire and trading post?

The fort is a big place.

We stayed in the Big Bear Loop (1400's) and couldn't have asked for a better spot. We were right next to the Chip and Dale singalong/campfire/movie area, and also the pool. It was just a walk across the grass for us! Also next to a comfort station, and just a short walk to the buses. I believe it is a premium loop.

Premium - 400 loop Everyone wants 100 or 200. But this one is just as nice. Less guest tromping through it too.
Preferred - 600, 700 or 1400
Full - 100 or 1300
Basic (water & Electric) there are only two 1500 and 2000

Thank you so much for your replies. Having only stayed in the resorts, we had only visited the Fort for character meals and shows. Didn't realize how big the camp area was with so many choices.

This will give us very helpful guidance of which way to go. We're looking at preferred sites, and with a 6 & 3 year old's we need to be close to some quick entertainment even at Disney.

We're all very excited to be camping and from reading the forum most opinions this is the only way to go...

We were in the same loop, same spaces sounds like. We could hear the sing-along & movie from our campsite.

We're looking at preferred sites, and with a 6 & 3 year old's we need to be close to some quick entertainment even at Disney.

Preferred loops are 100, 200 and 300. 300 is the pet loop.

Our favorite loop (of any type) is 100. It is closest to the marina (boats to MK). A very short walk to the Settlement trading post and close to Trails End restaurant, Hoop Dee Do and the bus stop to Wilderness Lodge and beyond.

Others don't like being that close to the "action", but we don't need a golf cart and getting to the things we do is an easy walk without having to get on an internal FW bus. There's nothing like sitting out and listening for the boat whistles from the marina.

We've requested the 1400 loop and are planning on taking our golf cart. I'm sure this will be a real learning experience for us, but won't be the last time we camp at FW no matter how this trip works out. We have 5 adults and 3 kids in the camper I'm just hoping we're still speaking after it. LOL
