Does anyone know how this works with the booking window?

So we are from the UK and have just got our first DVC contract. We have booked flights from 15 April to 6 May and have so far booked SSR (our home resort from 15th-4th). The reason we have left it and not booked the final night is we want to change the final week to AKL Kidani but can only do that in October when the 7 month window opens. Now if we book the last day for SSR as contingency we have to borrow some points from next year (2022). We are a bit reluctant to do that as if we borrow the points then the week at Kidani is less points, I think I am right in saying the points can't then go back in 2022 and we will lose them?

Is that correct? Is there any way round this?

Sorry if I have missed anything, and any questions please ask!

If you borrow points and later modify the reservation to one that uses fewer points, then the borrowed points will be applied to the new reservation before any current UY points. You could then bank the current UY points into the next year if you wish.

If your plan is to split stay, I would suggest getting it booked that way now. This will make it easier at 7 months because then you can just modify the 2nd week.

I always do this when doing a split stay, If you can’t get what you want, then Ms can combine back into one,

But, you can not modify online part of a stay. You’d have to cancel out the week, and then go in and try to snag what you want.

By setting it up as two from the start, you only have to modify what you want with no risk of losing it while trying.

Can you then call MS and ask that it is a continuing reservation? I understand that they can move your luggage for you from one resort to another?

I'm not clear why you think Kidani would be less points than SSR? Kidani is a couple points more in every category.

Unless you're doing something like preferred studio to standard studio, which would be a bummer. Get a savannah view if you're booking AKL!

Standard view still has partial savanna views from certain rooms. Also AKV is less than SSR in various rooms/times of year.

If I'm coming from the UK, no way I'm taking a gamble on that. I'm booking savannah! And for this booking, it's couple points more expensive at Kidani except some 2BR, I guess. OP did not tell us what category they plan on booking.

Sorry looking at the cheapest studios. I’ve borrowed the points now anyway and extended the stay to include the extra night at SSR.

Will just look to change it on 6 October when the 7 month window opens for AKL.

Do people normally book one day at a time from the 7 month mark or just wait a week then book the full week?

At 7 months you can book just like 11 months out and I will update every day if you are staying over the 7 nights.

Studios for that time are 13/15 SSR, 13/17 Jambo. There is a good chance the cheaper Jambo studios will be tight, if that's your goal. I would try to walk it a couple weeks before, if you can.

If you have kids, I would absolutely get the Savannah view, even if it mean one less night at AKL.

They don’t need to do anything special when you are changing resorts as it is simply two reservations.

Bell services will move your luggage for you. Either call and have them come to your room to get or bring yourself. It usually arrives in the afternoon between 3 and 6 pm. Once in the new room, call and they will bring up to you!
