Port Orleans Riverside. Here is our story from start to finish for our one day stay.
So me and my wife were talking one night and I said "How about we take the girls back to Disney before school starts". She said sure thing! I looked at dates and decided to book July 21st-26th so with less than 4 weeks we booked Yacht Club and were able to get a great AP discount so we did Club Level. Fast forward to one week before departure and I asked "How about we go on the 20th and stay at POR and get the Royal Room so we can get in a day earlier and hit the Springs" (The girls have asked about that room) so I booked it for one night for less than $200. So the morning of the 20th we leave at 6:00 am for our 7 hour drive. After stopping for breakfast, we arrived at around 2:15. Now the fun begins. I pull up to the guard station, he's super friendly and after checking my i.d. He directs us to check-in. I pull up and it's a virtual ghost town. I'm sitting in our vehicle wondering where everyone is. No greeter, no bell services, nothing. So I get out and go inside and make my way over to registration. I wait in line and when it's my turn I tell the CM I'm checking in and I have a car full of bags and have no idea where to take them. For the record, I have never stayed here so I did not know we parked in front of our building. Anyway, she snaps at me telling me I can only park there for 30 minutes and I need to go outside to baggage and they will help me. When I go out I see baggage and a man tells me I have to go back inside. I look and my wife has moved. I go to her and they told her she can't park there (less than 3 minutes) so I go back inside and go to Bell Services and explain that I have never stayed here, where do I check in etc. He is so helpful and checks us in and draws a map to our room. We get to our room at 2:48. I noted the time because our room "Not Ready" text came in on our way to the room. So we arrive and our magic bands will NOT open the door. I call guest services, they get the front desk on the phone and the lady tells me that our room will not be ready till 3:00. It's now 2:59 so I laugh! I mean really? 1 minute? I'm looking through the window and everything looks ready to go with the welcome paperwork on the bed and all! So while on the phone it starts storming. Really really heavy downpour and crazy wind blowing the rain directly at us. I then tell her "It's 3:00 so how about giving us access? She puts me on hold. 3:10 she comes back and tells us it's not ready just as a CM walks up to us and ask us if he can help. I hang up and tell him yes! He lets us in the room so my girls can use the restroom as they were doing the Pee Pee dance. Then my phone rings and it's POR reservations and she tells me the room isn't ready again. I tell her it looks fine and she says we can't go in yet because there is a knob missing on one of the dresser drawers! I ask if that's all? and she says yes I will have to wait on someone to replace the missing knob before we are allowed in. I finally had enough so I actually yelled THEN GIVE US ANOTHER ROOM! well, that worked! I mean really? She said okay, go to 9809 which was 4 doors down on the front. So the young man that was standing with us took us down, offered to help with luggage and showed us in our room. I gave him a tip because he was so helpful. Anyway, upon entering the room, it was small! But hey, the girls loved the décor and its only one night! well, the girls loved it, my wife, not so much. There were cobwebs on the fixtures, dust on the TV, The glasses and sink fixtures were dirty, small pieces of used toilet paper on the floor in the bathroom, Bath mat torn, black hair in the tub and ready for more? How about Poop on the wall! Yes really! Poop on the wall! I know it was poop because I wiped it off and smelled it to be sure. Of course I then gagged and almost puked. I will say that after we settled in the rain had stopped so we walked the grounds and it was beautiful! We took the boat to Disney Springs which was an awesome relaxing ride. But I was so thankful when we checked in at the Yacht Club the next morning. We pulled up, we were greeted at our car, a nice CM greeted us and took us right up to the lounge and showed us around, offered us a drink even though the lounge was closed, then off we went to Magic Kingdom. Oh yeah, Disney did what Disney does best. I opened my MDX app and BOOM! It was full of Multi Experience FP+'s LOL. Go figure
Here are a few pics of our wonderful POR Royal room. Enjoy!
And I know some will say I'm being picky, Believe me, I'm not. I know it's not a Deluxe and It's not Club Level but come on! For $200 please clean the room at least as good as the local Embassy Suites which is about the same price.
Edit: I had NO IDEA that the Headboards had an LED light show until we were packing to leave! I seen the button on the side and pressed it and was like what! Our girls were amazed and it would have been better if they had know the night we checked in, not 15 minutes before we left.
