First and Last time we will Ever stay at ...

We just find a parking spot, check in and bring our luggage to Bell Services if our room is not ready. We do the same at Deluxe resorts.

At BC and AKL we drove up, bell services helped unload us and then my husband went and parked. This thread makes me think at values and moderates you have to haul your luggage from the parking lot when I know I have seen folks being unloaded at POP's entrance.

I’m not sure. I guess we’re just haulers. :)

At Pop and even at the Poly, we just find it easier to park, check on our room status and maybe grab a bite to eat if it’s close to check in time. Then we drive to the closest parking lot to our room once our room is ready and bring the luggage ourselves. We just find it easier. We will use bell services to store our luggage if our room is not ready and we want to go to the parks, but again, we just tend to bring it over ourselves from our parking spot outside the entrance.

We won't get there until maybe 9pm, so it probably would be easier to just park near our building. Thanks for the insight!

You’re welcome. :)

Check out a Pop map and look at the parking lots. You can park in any of the decades. You don’t have to be staying in that particular decade. As an example, depending on our room location in the 70’s buildings, we may park in the 90’s lot. It can still be quite the hike from your parking spot to your room though depending on your room location.

We have a preferred room booked and I am hoping for 60s. This is our 4th stay at POP, but I only know where the 80s parking is, as we cut through there on the way to the bus. I'll check it out!

We usually stay in a deluxe resort and the first time we stayed at POR we really didn't know how they handle guest luggage in a moderate resort. We were totally clueless and those types of things, like how luggage handing differs between different types of resorts, is not easy to find. In fact, after staying at POR we still aren't sure how it works. ;)

So I think that those people who are criticizing the OP because he didn't get good information are not being very nice. The OP had a bad experience and doesn't have to justify his feelings to anyone.

When we stay in the 60’s, we park in the front parking lot where it says Guest check In. As long as you’re not in a space that says 30 minute parking, it’s open to guests to park there over night. I always double check this upon arrival though in case there is some new rule about it. It’s very convenient cause you just walk through the Pop building straight out to your spot. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience to give a heads up to others. Very glad you had a good time. :flower1:
POR has over 2,000 rooms. While the OP's experience went from "that's silly" to "that sucks!", odds are strongly against another such occurrence. How many POR guests in the future do you think will
  • Misunderstand the level of service on arrival, and
  • Not be aware where to leave the car, and
  • Encounter confusion while checking in, and
  • Then be checked in by Bell Services, and
  • Before reaching that room be informed it's not ready, and
  • Be given access to the room anyway by a CM not privy to any of the above, and
  • While in the room be called by a CM advising the room isn't ready yet (for a silly reason), and
  • Be moved to a room that should have been - and probably was - out of service?
Well I am off to research where to park at POP when we drive there in November. I've only ever had a car at deluxe resorts...
Out front when you first get there if you need any help (luggage, check in, shopping...), then in a lot convenient to your room.

Just so you're aware, Sixties is relatively far from its or any parking lot.

Thanks, but I got the info I needed.

We don’t worry about what to do with our luggage on any trip. We load them ourselves from our house. We do the same when we reach the airport (if we fly) and leave the airport. When we get to the resort we do not all of a sudden become helpless and feel we need to be waited on. If I need to make two trips so be it. Please don’t take this as rude. Not meant that way at all. Just the way we do things.

Okay. Good to know that one single person's disastrous confluence of events* at a 28 year old resort is all one needs to know.

*I was going to use the much more common phrase "comedy of errors", but genuinely don't want the OP to think anything he described is remotely funny.

I have absolutely no idea what you're on about, but ok.

Funny thing about it all, We still managed to have a great vacation. I posted my experience and was totally honest, even the part where I lost my temper which I could have left out and no one would be the wiser but to be called a liar by people that were not there when this all went down is sad. I know some of you are so much more educated about Disney than I am but that does not give you the right to flame me for not knowing where to park or who to call. I did my best in a bad situation and ended up making the best of it. I was just sharing what happened, not looking for sympathy or to be put down. Hope you feel better about yourself for making me feel worse about myself.
Don't let it get to you guy. Some folks are just 'those type' of posters - salty vs sweet 👌

Honestly! I mean I research a resort by looking at the rooms, restaurant, etc., but I certainly don't research what happens when I arrive, who takes my luggage, etc. - I honestly would have no idea those things were different between deluxe and moderates and wouldn't think to research it.

Lot's of know it alls who really no nothing about the OPs situation.

Are you a CM? Do you live near Disney or go a few times a year?
You always seem to have pointed answers to every single question asked.

Or pull up to the front, quickly drop the rest of the family and the luggage off, and then go park.

Every level of Disney resort does it a bit differently. There are differences between value/moderate/deluxe resorts besides room size.

And to be fair all any of us know is what the OP posted. And that is all we can go on.

Except some posters seem to be doubting what the OP said happened actually happened, which why, because they know it all?

Anyway, hope rest of your trip went smoothly!

Staff is resort specific. Unless they got a promotion/new job, they dont swap resorts. What section of the resort they are assigned may differ week to week, but they dont change resorts weekly.
Just last year when we talked to our mousekeeper, she said that she moves around between resorts. I just assumed (yes I know) that was just normal procedure.
