Not exactly a DisABILITY post but seems like this is the crowd to ask...

Chances F-A has something for athletes foot? This itch went from zero to sixty in the last 20 minutes. Would really hate to break the bubble and Uber somewhere, especially as that's going to throwva spanner into my genie reservation.

I doubt it. Standard antiseptic and bandaids, maybe aspirin or Tylenol. Possible an Ace bandage, or sunburn relief cream. But I wouldn't expect much more than that. Good luck! I feel your pain. I always travel with travel sizes pf anti fungal, and hydrocortisone creams.

Also as an FYI many of the gift shops have an assortment of single dose medicines they keep in containers under the register. You do have to buy them. But possible a dose of Benedryl (I have bought from them) and some Cortizone anti itch cream if they have it.

Try soaking it in the pool if you are staying at a resort. Or get some ice at one of the drink machines and put that on it to numb the nerves? Hope they have something at first aid that will help.

Check to see if the closest Walgreens or CVS will deliver (and you may be able to "double Dash" via DoorDash and order food from outside WDW, and have your AF cream delivered at the same time)

Great idea…if the goal is spreading it to others.

The chemicals in the pool would kill it - otherwise, there'd be fungus all over the pool. People with athlete's foot should wear shoes to the pool, of course, and take them off only when going right into the pool.

The CDC recommends avoiding pools if you have athletes foot.

That's because it can be spread on the pool deck, just like it can be spread in a shower, so people where shower sandals/shoes in public showers. Wear flip flops to the edge of the pool, and the chance of spreading it has been diminished. Of course, if it's a really angry case of AF, then it's going to sting like crazy and possibly irritate it even more.

A five second google search told me this is completely false.

My five second search found the exact opposite, though. Won't argue back and forth, as you can find just about any perspective on Google. My husband's AF cleared up at Disney, and he spent a lot of time in the pool (with shoes worn to the edge) and said that it helped stop the itch and cleared up his AF.

Mold and other fungi do not grow in pools because of the chemicals used to treat the water - how else does it keep from getting moldy?

This question was answered and is getting into disagreement, so I am closing it at this point.
This is what CDC.gov says about Athlete’s Foot: (my bold)
« Prevention of athlete’s foot:
  • Nails should be clipped short and kept clean. Nails can house and spread the infection.
  • Avoid walking barefoot in locker rooms or public showers (wear sandals).
For control of athlete’s foot infection, persons with active tinea pedis infection should:
  • Keep feet clean, dry, and cool.
  • Avoid using swimming pools, public showers, or foot baths.
  • Wear sandals when possible or air shoes out by alternating them every 2-3 days.
  • Avoid wearing closed shoes and wearing socks made from fabric that doesn’t dry easily (for example, nylon).
  • Treat the infection with recommended medication. »
