First Act electronic drum set-Target

Has anyone had any opinions of the first act electronic drum set that is going to be on sale at target on bf? It says you can hook up your mp3 to it, so I thought it might be decent for ds14.

I am thinking of buying one for ds10. He is interested in playing the drums in the school band in a couple of years. Thought this might be good practice. If anyone has any opinions, I would also be interested.

DS9 takes drum lessons and I was asking about this with his instructor just yesterday as currently he just has a drum pad is getting a little bored with it. He said for a beginning player who really does want to play you're better off getting a single snare drum instead of one of the electric things that has more than one drumming surface. According to him learning the strokes on more than one surface is just frustrating.

For anyone interested in playing percussion(drums) an electric drum set is not for learning. It really is more like a toy. That said, it may be exactly what your son likes.

My DS14 plays drums at school band and in a garage band(with gigs & all). He has never had any formal lessons except at school, which really does not count for actual instruction, but I digress.
While he has a full drum set, and wishing it were better.......he'd have fun with the electronic set but the fun would wear off.

So, to sum it up, you have to decide how they are going to be used.
