Hi,
Deciding when to go on my next trip. How are the first 2 weeks of June? Are they starting to get crowded with kids getting out of school? When does school end in Florida and does that affect attendance?

Thanks for any help.

We usually get out of school before Memorial Day, other areas go one week or so beyond that.

This year, however, most schools are in session an extra week to make-up from the hurricanes.

lovelabs...........Last year we arrived the Sunday before Memorial Day and stayed for 5 nights, 6 days. I was somewhat concerned about the crowds but other than at MK, they crowds weren't all that bad. We live outside of Nashville, TN and get out around May 25th. I think folks up north (WI, MN, NY etc) get out a week or so later.
Hope that helps.

Might keep in mind that the first week of June is Gay Pride week. This put a lot more people in the parks than usual. I think this runs the entire first week of June. I understand they also hold a loud all night party at Disney Studios. There was a thread on this several months ago talking about the noise being heard at the Boardwalk and the complaints about it..smjj

We went June 4-10th last year and will return the same time this year. It was a bit crowded, but not too bad. We used fastpass and were able to ride everything we wanted. Caught the last few days of Gaydays, but had checked the schedule on gaydays.com and avoided parks they were in and didn't have the hassle of the crowds associated with those events. The only thing that dampered us was the rain, it rained a LOT, and rain at night that wouldn't let up. We couldn't see Fantasmic or Stars and Motor Cars (tried two separate nights and even had the dinner package) due to it being cancelled due to weather . We are hoping and praying for better weather this year. I didn't think about schools staying in later due to hurricaine makeups, do you know when that is until? That would be great to avoid those crowds, we go early June for that reason but I am a teacher and that is the earliest we can get down there.
Good luck to you, no matter what it is DISNEY and you will have a great time.

We've been the last two years during the first week of June, and it hasn't been too bad. You shouldn't have to worry too much about Gay Days, as the only park it seems to affect is the Magic Kingdom on the first Saturday in June (but you really shouldn't go to the Magic Kingdom on ANY Saturday if possible. :) )

We'll be back again from May 31- June 8 at POP Century.

We have been in early June several times and have found the crowds to be very manageable. Many schools do not get out till mid June, so we have found the first two weeks of June to be a good time to go. The weather can vary a bit; from very pleasant to a little too hot and rainy but certainly doable. Many schools do not get out till mid June, so the first two weeks are still not terribly crowded.

My understanding is that the first Saturday in June is typically Gap Pride Day at Magic Kingdom only. We went last year this first week and saw only 1 couple at Blizzard Beach. It's no big deal. However, being a travel agent I have to tell my clients about this timeframe so they're aware. I say go for it. I don't think the crowds were all that bad and the weather was great. We did have a couple days of scattered rain but you're in Florida...it's just oging to be that way! Grab the ponchos and have fun!! :umbrella:

from what I can remember of my days in school, I believe we got out right around mid-June after state exams were done...I always hated getting out after most other states (I'm in NY)

This will be our 4th trip in early June; we usually go the first or second week and have found the crowds to be very manageable. The Gay Days don't seem to have that big of an effect on crowds except at MK as GarrettJD mentioned. You can check the schedule here: http://gaydays.com/calendar/ And like GarrettJD we always avoid MK on Saturdays anyway. It does rain every day--usually just a little 15-20 minute shower in the early afternoon. Last year was unusual as there was a torrential downpour every evening around 5:00 pm that lasted for at least an hour. We missed our GG Wishes cruise because of the lightening :sad:We always get to see and do everything we want to (weather permitting, of course :umbrella: ) with the help of FastPass and some planning. Go and have a great time!!

There has been some confusion to what day os the official gay day at MK. The reason for two different schedules is that one of the main planners for gay days wanted to add Universal into the mix. This year Universal has been spending a considerable amount of money to support the event. This is what caused the division in the two planning schedules. With more than 100000 gay and lesbian people coming to orlando it will be crowded most likely on sat AND sunday as people will be at both posted gay days at MK. I know very confusing for those attending and those planning. Hope this helps.
