Well I wanted to start September as I felt myself getting depressed with all the hurricane coverage and worrying so much about our Dis friends. God bless one and all.

Today I did the Kathy Smith Buns and Thigs Step routine. I think I have a taebo coming from netflix today. That's two days in a row that I've done hour long routines so I think I'll do Pam's 30 mins tape tomorrow from BSS4. Take care everyone.

It is so difficult to watch isn't it? :sad1: My heart, my thoughts, and my prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. :grouphug:

I'm not sure when I last posted so here's my exercise for the week so far:

Monday: 40 mins walk/jog/sprint 65 minutes cleaning cars

Tuesday: 45 mins. Super Body Sculpt

Wednesday: 30 mins. heavy weights, light cardio

Today: ?mins, walk

I've not been doing as many FIRM videos as I have in the past and when I did Stephanie's Super Body Sculpt on Tuesday, I felt it right away! :scared:

Cindy~ I posted on the August thread, but I just wanted to let you know that I am so thankful that you and your family are doing well. You and several other DISers have been in my thoughts and prayers and it is good to know that you are doing well. Please take care!

Kim~ Did you feel any affects from Katrina? I hope you and your family are doing well. :grouphug:

Have a good day FIRMies! :sunny:

Hi everyone, and our continued thoughts and prayers for the victims of Katrina. Isn't it literally horrifying? I heard one story of these poor hospital workers just begging for police protection because looters were outside trying to get in! Can you even imagine how fearful everyone is? It's awful that this has brought out the worst of humanity, but I'm ever so grateful that it's also brought out the best. Stay strong, Cindy! We love you! :grouphug:

Hi s&k'smom! I'm glad to see you're enjoying mixing up your workouts. I think of you often!

Hi Tracy-Trace! Oh, you're still working so very hard, aren't you! I know you were going to start homeschooling Emily soon--how do you fit it all in, Busy Bee?! :teeth: We got a bit of rain and wind from the outer edges of Katrina--just one real bad storm that knocked over part of our fence--but that's it. I know what you mean--I've had to turn off the TV because of all the coverage. Not that I don't care, I just can't stand seeing so many people in pain anymore. I think it's just one of those events that is so horrific, that there's not even a proper word to describe it. :worried:

I had my meeting with my new nephrologist yesterday, and man, was she a hoot. When I was talking to her about my medical history, and I mentioned my 110 pound loss, she said, "Sweetie (this is the south, everyone's a sweetie!), you just gotta tell me how you did it! I'm so round my son tries to dribble me like a basketball!" :rotfl2: I liked her right away! She's running a lot of additional tests that haven't been run before, and hopefully she'll be able to point me in a different direction. She was so easy to talk to and had such a great sense of humor--she was a trip. :teeth:

She told me I may return to exercise slowly--walking at most. I think I'm going to start next week, as we're supposed to have a little cool down in the weather coming our way. I love that it's September. Even though it's still very hot and humid here, psychologically it just makes me feel like it's cooler than August. :tilt:

Have a great Thursday, everyone! {{{BIG HUGS}}} Cindy!

I read last month's Firm thread yesterday and got a bit overwhelmed. I am new to the firm tapes. Which one(s) would you recommend for a relative beginner. I have done the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds series, but have been looking at the Firm tapes now. Any help would be appreciated.

Suzi

Parkhopper you've come to the right place. I think you could start with any of the series as they always have someone starting at the beginner pace. We all seem to love the series with the transformer and have been using with different tapes. Take it slow and learn the moves. They will pay off. Walmart or Overstock.com are good places to get the tapes as they have sales and such plus the firm website can sell complete packages at a really good price of the older series. good luck and welcome aboard.

Very good advice from S&K'smom. Just start off slowly and you should get major progress!!!

I did the blast section of IMAX2. Didn't feel like a long drawn out workout today. To much on my mind. I'm not in Houston, but we are getting lots of people from Louisana here in the DFW area and the schools are trying to do something. So my mind is at work.

I'm hoping everyone has a wonderful, wonderful day!

Had my first Cathe experience this am, 30 mins of step. Excellent. I liked her style. OK she's no Allie but I think I may be converted. I think it will make an excellent addition to my firming.

good morning everyone!!!

I got down with the transfimer this morning. I can't say with the fanny lifter, I don't have it anymore ;) I love Emily. Hate that she didn't do more workouts.

I hope everyone has a safe, fun, labor day weekend!!!!

Sorry to hijack your thread again, but I really would like more information. If the transfirmer series is a good one to start with (and it looks like it might be), does it come with ALL of the equipment needed (except handweights)? My mother purchased a Firm video years ago online and never used it because she said that it needed a lot of different "pieces" that weren't included.

Suzi

Suzi, yes the transfirmer series comes with everything but the weights. The box the videos. It is a great series if you want one to start with. As someone earlier said, just follow the modifications and you should be fine.

Yesterday I ran 4 miles. Today was Step Jump & Pump.

suzi, the transfirmer series would be a good place to start. The workouts are good and you can use the transfirmer for workouts from previous series. The only equipment you need are the transfirmer (step that comes with the series) and dumbbells. The Firm recommends that you start with 3, 5, and 8 lb. dumbbells. Just take it slow and modify any move that seems too difficult. If you do the workouts regularly you will progress quickly and see results in just a few weeks. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. We'll help in any way we can.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Thank you all very much for the information, the clarification and the encouragement!!

Hello my Firmie friends, :wave2:

Glad to see ya'll are still at it working out. I have no idea when I will have time to Firm again (and I can say that I actually miss it)! :Pinkbounc

My family life is almost back to normal. We got internet back today and phones are now working most of the time. Kids should go back to school on Tuesday.

It is my work life that is insane!! My town (of 100,000) now has four shelters open for the evacuated people. We have about 1500 evacuees. I work at a community hospital. Most of you probably think I am a nurse, but I am a pharmacist and a jack of all trades. I have a staff of 13 pharmacists (including myself) that staff the pharmacy 24/7/365. Well, we now find ourselves in the position of staffing a second hospital that only has one pharmacist on staff and has increased patients due to the transfers from New Orleans hospitals. Our hospital has also accepted transfers from N.O. area hospitals. And we are running a pharmacy of sorts out of one of the larger shelters!! All this with the same staff. I am kinda tired tonite and am headed back in to work tomorrow. Gotta line up more volunteers and medications for people. It makes me feel great inside to see all the people of Houma stepping up and taking care of the people. It has been an unbelievable week.

I had a mom show up at the pharmacy door on Tuesday. She has a chronically ill child who usually receives her medications (shots) in New Orleans. She had no idea of what to do or where to go. All she had was the name of the pharmacy and the name of the medication. Come to find out, this child is one of only 3 that receives this medication in Louisiana. After countless hours on the phone with the Drug Company, FedEx, a courier service, four others pharmacies and 5 other hospitals, we managed to have the medication shipped to a hospital about 2 hours from here and the mom was going to drive there to pick it up. I can only imagine how many other scenarios like this will pop up as time goes on. So many people from this area use the medical facilites in New Orleans. I read today that only 3 hospitals in the NO area are functional. 3 in a city that had a population of over 500,000.

I know that this was a very long post, but I thought you might be interested in some of the stories from my area. I am sure that I will have a lot more in the future.

Take care !!!!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Oh Cindy I've been thinking about the parents of children with special needs. I can't only imagine, no actually I can't. It's too overwhelming. God bless you and your staff for what you are able to do.

Rest day for me. Boy am I just so blah over what it happening plus I got my you know what last night and I'm even more blah.

Cindy, I saw a report on TV yesterday about the people of Houma and how they have taken in over 2000 evacuees. According to the reporter, the good citizens of Houma are sheltering, feeding, clothing, and providing medical care for the evacuees all on their own without help from the federal government. Bless you and the countless other volunteers in your city and throughout the country who have stepped up to take care of others.

After 6 days of exercising, my body is telling to take a rest day. So that's what I'm doing.

Cindy, so glad that you all are safe! Keep the faith and you are in my prayers!

Premix of Cardio and weights step only today. PMS and just don't geel like doing much of anything!

Have a great Saturday everyone

Took the day off today. Just needed the rest.

Hope everyone had a great Sunday!

Got in Kathy Smith's Thighs and Buns today. Very good tape but a tad bit jumpy. I think I like her style but I definately prefer the firm over her but she is an very good addition as a lot of her tapes are an hour long.

Hi all! Yesterday I did Low Max. I was dripping with sweat when I finished. Today was Super Body Sculpt and Express Cardio.

Hi guys!

Back at the exercise game after a two month layoff. Nephrologist said to keep it light, so I thought I'd do just the step-only premix of Low Max (great minds, Norma!). I was sweating and nearly out of breath by the second section--and I still had five more to go! :headache: I've lost endurance and cardio capacity and I think I'll need to be working at a more intermediate level for a little bit. It's wee discouraging, but ya know, I've come to the conclusion that I don't have to go all-out all the time to be in good shape. I'm just going to do my best at a less intense level, and see where that gets me. Oh, yeah--and when I stop eating mass quantities of chocolate, that'll help, too. :rolleyes2 :p

I see that you're all still keeping up with your tough workouts....And speaking of tough, Cathe is scheduled to make an 'big announcement" sometime real soon! I'm thinking of getting her latest low impact step w/o from her Target series. If anyone has it and has opinions, I'd love to hear them!

I hope you're all enjoying a fun and happy Labor Day! Cindy, your selflessness and service to others is an inspiration. God bless you and all those who are helping others in this horrible, tragic time.

Lots o' Firmin' Love to you all! :grouphug:
