I tried the search function to no avail. We would like a great spot to watch the fireworks from.I would hate to stake out a spot early only to be told an hour later that we had to move because of a walkway or something. Can you tell me where we should stake out a permissable great spot (or spots to avoid) and how early might we need to be there on a Fri night in October?

while the hub is the BEST place to view them, we watched from the train station this past friday night. we arrived on the last train about 9:05 and "just" missed getting a spot on a bench. we sat while we waited and then stood and saw everything really well, including TINK's flights.

We were there Friday, got a spot right in the hub, on the front side, dead center, mains street side of the road. People filled the street area, and were sitting down. The only thing the CM's did was, right before the fireworks started..they made everybody stand up. From where we were, I didn't see them move anybody.

Those fireworks were INCREDIBLE....I bawled my little eyes out!

Hope you get a fantastic spot!

Linda

I agree that the best place to view the fireworks is the hub, dead center in front of the castle. However, if you show up 30-45 minutes on a Friday October night you should be able to find very good seats.

So you're allowed to sit while you wait? :goodvibes

I was a bit worried about being able to stand in one spot for an hour or so.

We're going during Veteran's Day Weekend so I figure we're going to have to get our spot about 2 hours before it starts if we want to see it from the hub.

Do people sit or stand in front of the castle? Not on the street area where the horse-drawn trolley travels, but in that open area right in front of the castle before you cross the draw-bridge. (It has a big star etched into the ground) But...I wonder...is that area maybe too close? It seems you'd have to crane your neck to see the fireworks from there.

I'm praying for some Pixie Dust to keep the wind away that weekend. ;)

In the spot we were at, everybody sat while waiting...it was kinda nice :)

But the crowd was so thick, I couldn't see the area directly in front of the castle...

We always watch the fireworks from the hub. You can stake out a spot by sitting on the curb around the hub area. The CMs do need to keep a couple of spots open for foot traffic. When the show starts, people can stand in the street to view the show. Have a great time. Maybe we'll see you there. :lmao:

Sorry to hijack here, but I have a similar question. :)

Would an hour in advance be early enough to get a good spot at the hub this Saturday? I've never watched the fireworks at the hub before, but after hearing how great it is, I have to check it out.

No, people are not allowed to sit in that area - everyone has to be on the hub side of the sidewalk that goes in front of the castle. People sit in the street while waiting, and as a previous poster mentioned, about 10-15 minutes before show time the CMs make everyone stand up. Sooo...IF you don't wait for a spot, but just show up in that area about 15 minutes before the show you can take advantage of all of that empty space that's opening up and get a pretty good spot.

In answer to the previous poster's question...an hour should be plenty of time to get a spot in the street in front of the castle - but try to get a spot where you can see the castle AND the Matterhorn - there are some projections on the Matterhorn that you can't see from a lot of places because it's behind the trees.

Hope that helps!

You mean the empty space that is created when all those sitting people have to stand up? :confused3

Yes - sitting people take up more room than standing people! So there's a lot of extra room when everyone stands up - most people move forward, but there's opportunities for people on the side to slip in there, too.

That's a great tip, thank you so much!!

Hm I'm confused, I've never staked out a spot before and everytime I show up people are sitting on the road, so not on the curb of the hub but just in front of the ropes. I would guess you can't sit in the middle of the road an hour before the show starts, so if you sit on the curb when can you make your way to the road?

Thanks for asking this 52plan4, I've asked this same question but wasn't able to get as many responses as you got, so I'm taking advantage hope you dont mind.

This past Friday night, people FILLED the road section, not just the curbs. They were sitting right on the road, and we were sitting on the sidewalk. There didn't appear to be any extra space for anyone to squeeze in when everybody stood up...:confused3

I'm thinking about staking out a spot on the curb (hub side). Do you think standing on the curb, instead of the street would be advantageous to those of us who are a bit short of stature? :)

Absolutely! Every inch helps! I just hope you don't get behind the guy who decides to put his kid up on his shoulders...that always seems to happen to me. :-(

How rude! We have a 5yo going with us and we've already decided that we're going to take turns holding him on our hip...just for that reason.

That's very considerate of you! I can understand that kids have a tough time seeing (it's bad enough for me, and I'm taller than the kids!) and parents want to help them see, but I think the shoulder thing is really unfair to those behind you.
