My DD doesn't like loud noises of any kind...balloons popping, fireworks, that kind of thing. Can you give me some ideas of where we can watch Wishes away from the park. I've heard mentioned a beach somewhere and also an observation deck at the Contemporary. Are these good options? Any more ideas? How about for Illuminations?

Thanks!!

My children do not particularly enjoy fireworks either. I thought I could convince them but ended up avoiding them instead. There are so many other things to do at disney that we all enjoyed.

However, for tips on how to get your kids through them try the disabilities boards.

We used ear plugs for our kids and they did fine. EPCOT is definitely the LOUDEST fireworks!! I believe it has to do with the lake? We have a friend who does skeet shooting and has some ear muffs that his daughter wears!

Observation deck is on the same floor as Chef Mickey's (opposite side of building) you can view the fireworks w/out the noise, also if you visit the GF around that time, you can stand on the deck around Narcossis (spelling?) wonderful view. Don't know for absolute sure, but I assume you can see the Epcot FW's from Boardwalk. My GS actually slept through them in Epcot many a night (noise doesn't bother him!)

You can go to the beach near Fort Wilderness. Pick up a boat right in front of MK and it'll take ya there.

My kids (5 and 3) don't usually like fireworks, but they both liked the MK fireworks and were not scared at all. My 3yo was scared at Epcot, because there's a 'big fire'.

There is also an observation deck at the California Grill on the top floor of the Contemporary, but the last time I was there (9/07) they were requiring that you had eaten at the restaurant at some point during the day in order to view the fireworks.

For a truly unforgettable evening, get reservations at the CG close to the time when the fireworks go off. It's the best place to view the fireworks in the MK. They lower the lights in the restaurant and pipe the music in so you can really enjoy the show! The restaurant, while expensive, is the not only the best place to eat at Disney (IMHO) but is also kid friendly.

My dd when she was 15 mo old didn't like them.

She was also a bit nervous when she was 4 & my ds was 22 months & he got scared when we watched Illuminations that first night but then we started pointing out the colors & forget it. They were both hooked & I am sure annoyed the people around us because they kept saying "look pink ones", "more pink ones". But at least they weren't screaming.
