Fireworks this summer with change in mask guidance?

I 100% support Disney giving "wrist bands" to those who provide their vaccine documentation and letting them freely roam unmasked throughout the park. Those without the wrist band should continue to mask. (Ok, ok....I actually support lifting all mask mandates, but if not, this is the best idea.)

Even if Disney doesn't change their mask guidance yet, does this maybe relax things enough to support bringing shows back like Fantasmic and nighttime fireworks at Epcot where there is less crowding? I know it is wishful thinking. Maybe they could implement something like a boarding group system/ticketed item, like for RotR as entry for Fantasmic and treat fireworks as "hard ticket" events to limit capacity??

Can you imagine trying to keep up with a mask all day, especially if you have multiple kids? I have a mask chain, but my goodness that would be so annoying to continue to have to remember. Or if my kid sets it down somewhere and doesn't realize it and we go to enter a building and.....where the heck is your mask?!!!!! Yeah it makes sense to only require inside, but I can see the logistical nightmare for everyone of having to do that. I am a mask wearer, fully vaccinated, and can't wait for the day when they're gone myself, but I don't want Disney getting rid of them until younger kids can get the vaccine. I just don't see them budging, and I don't want them to, until that changes.

Or parents could make their kids keep their masks on all the time same as they are doing right now and let those who are vaccinated or choose not to vaccinate go without. I don’t see how it’s everyone else’s responsibility to continue to mask when the science doesn’t call for it just so that parents will have an easier time.

Regardless, I stand by my thoughts about Disney getting a LOT of pushback about this and loosening the rules sooner rather than later.

I like that idea, except in April Florida passed their Vaccine Passport ban . The bill prohibits businesses, schools and government agencies from requiring people to show documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccinations or post-infection recovery before gaining entry. Not sure Disney could legally get around that.

I think the direction we’re headed is:

Masks recommended for the vulnerable &/or unvaccinated.

At least outside for now. And then there’s no need to differentiate between groups.

Bob acknowledged masks in the summer are a rough experience. I’d guess more specifically outdoors in the hot sun when risk is low. Maybe keep when crowds congregate for extended periods... but maybe not if things continue improving at recent rates.

this is my guess too....masks will be made recommended but not required outdoors VERY Soon

I have always said that masks will be gone at Disney by summer, and with the social distancing relaxing I predict fireworks and everything else will be back by then as well. The heat in Florida is too oppressive then, and with no science to back wearing masks outside why would Disney risk losing customers during a peak time for them?

Hersheypark just announced masks not required so I’m sure Disney will soon follow suit

Disney has hinted by summer mask restrictions could be reduced. Fireworks will be returning soon. Testing has been ongoing and plans are in place to start shows again.

I really hope so. Do you know where the testing has been? I feel like such a broken record but Harmonious seems like the obvious choice for an initial test run if they can get it together over there. There is SO MUCH MORE SPACE to accommodate people in Epcot, plus two exits for better crowd flow post-show.

I am waiting to see Bob wearing a mask walking around Disney all hot & sweaty Preferably handing out free small bottles of water.
Of course he can always retire to the Castle to refresh. I bet the A.C, has not been turned down in the Castle to save money.

Testing has occurred at both Epcot and Magic Kingdom. Harmonious however won’t debut until the anniversary, Guest most likely will see Epcot Forever first. Things are changing daily though.

"or choose not to vaccinate"....makes zero sense. The science says if you've been vaccinated it's perfectly reasonable to ditch the masks, if not then you need to continue to wear one for the safety of yourself and others. So if you choose not to vaccinate why should my kid and others still have to wear masks? This isn't for anyone having any easier time, it's so fewer people die. People having an easier time would be just going back to the way things were, just throwing up our hands and going "well, we tried"
