Fireworks this summer with change in mask guidance?

I just read that the CDC is recommending that individuals who have been vaccinated no longer need to stay masked outdoors or even indoors except in crowded places like prisons and planes (not my examples). Obviously Disney will set their own timelines and policies, but I am so hopeful that we will have fireworks back by my summer trip. Clearly they are already relaxing distancing policies at Disney. Do folks think this latest guidance change will bring fireworks back sooner? Any guesses when we will see them return? It seems like dominoes are falling faster now.

fireworks at disney are as crowded if not more crowded then planes.

This is a step in the right direction but I think more will be needed before they do that.

My guess is that Disney's mask rules will not change until everyone can go maskless regardless of vaccination status. Trying to differentiate those who have been vaccinated from those who have not would be too cumbersome.

They always seem like a total mess crowd-wise at MK, though not as much at Epcot. Maybe the Epcot show can start first?? Although it seems like they may not be nearly ready to launch at Epcot...

That's true. I don't know how that would work at all, at Disney or anywhere else.

There should be more guidance in coming weeks. I'd be stunned if they're not ramping up for fireworks already. Just hoping the mask mandates go away in three months when we go down!

Something tells me Disney isn't ready to cut out the portion of their parkgoers who aren't willing or able to get vaccinated.

I think you'll see Disney stick with an all for one, one for all rule. Children under 12 can't get vaccinated yet, I wouldn't feel great about my kids having to wear masks while I don't.

Good point. I am amazed by how my youngest runs around all day with a mask on, unbothered. I don't know how he does it. I imagine Florida heat will be a different story. Still hoping The under 12 set will be able to get vaccinated sooner rather than later...

I've thought from the beginning there is no science that supports having to wear a mask outdoors (much less a face shield as well that the poor cast members have to wear) at Disney and that seems even more clear now. It seems really easy for them to say, wear a mask to enter the park, enter a queue, or enter a building. Keep it on when inside. Otherwise, when walking around in common areas outside, your choice if you want to mask.

With the new guidelines and the ease in getting a vaccination, I think we as a society are rapidly moving away from "mandating things to keep others' safe". Unless they have agreements with unions to keep them for a prolonged period of time, it's hard for me not to see them at least cutting back mask requirements in some way over next few weeks.

to me it seems like the CDC along has erred on the side of being way to cautious...and now that they are rolling back stuff we're kind of in shock.the world is about to look a whole lot different over the next couple of weeks

Yes, at a certain point it becomes a personal responsibility to protect your own health, and let go of the idea that you can control what others do. Given that those under 12 are much less likely to get a serious case of covid OR long term side effects, I think it should be at the discretion of the parents at this point.

It's hard enough to get people to follow the rules when they are required everywhere. It would have been a nightmare for cast members to deal with if they were only required in certain areas. It may not have been following the science as much as it was simplifying the rule. Same reason they changed eating and drinking to stationary because too many people try to see what they can get away with.

Can you imagine trying to keep up with a mask all day, especially if you have multiple kids? I have a mask chain, but my goodness that would be so annoying to continue to have to remember. Or if my kid sets it down somewhere and doesn't realize it and we go to enter a building and.....where the heck is your mask?!!!!! Yeah it makes sense to only require inside, but I can see the logistical nightmare for everyone of having to do that. I am a mask wearer, fully vaccinated, and can't wait for the day when they're gone myself, but I don't want Disney getting rid of them until younger kids can get the vaccine. I just don't see them budging, and I don't want them to, until that changes.

Agree, I don't think Disney is ready to get rid of masks entirely yet, and I don't think they will exclude those not vaccinated from entering the park.
Glad its not my decision to make.
