In the past I always sit on the street right in front of the castle but in my search I was unable to find anybody else that likes to sit here. My question is, clearly I can't sit in the middle of the street an hour before the fireworks even starts because I'll get run over by strollers and the horses, so for anybody else that sits here, when can I save my seat there?
It's going to be a busy evening at the fireworks so I want to get my spot early so I can be right in front of the castle.
My other question is that I kept reading about people sitting on the hub or standing in the standing area, now I've always sat on the street facing front I've never looked behind so can someone tell me where the standing area is? Maybe show me on a picture because it's been a year since my last trip and am having a hard time visualizing the hub. I'll be with first timers and I really want them to get a good view of the fireworks. Thanks.

I don't believe they have a "sitting" area anymore. They used to have a small area ropped off in front of the castle for those who got there super early and wanted to sit. But they did away with this long ago. Now, the CM's tell EVERYONE to stand about 10-15 minutes prior to showtime. This way they can fit more people into the hub area.

My friends just returned last night from DLR and said that it was very easy for them to show up in the hub 15 min prior to showtime and find a place once everyone stood up.

HTH.

thanks bouncy that map is perfect. So you see the big compass in front of the castle? We ususally sit in front of that thing. Which is apparently a sidewalk not the street lol. They have the compass roped off.
So dangermouse, you say they stopped the sitting area long ago but we did it just last november so is this more recent? Maybe they allow sitting for the believe fireworks? Either way, I still want to be in front of that compass, would I be able to sit on the sidewalk around an hour early and get a good spot or would they not let me sit there? I basically need it spelled it out for me, where should I sit/stand and how early should I get there?

Here is a link to a description of the "Remember" fireworks. If you scroll down the page it shows a rough map of the areas where you're allowed to wait and how early you can start staking out your spot. I don't know if this will apply to the Believe fireworks, but I'm planning on seeing both..the Remember fireworks over Vet's Day weekend and Believe on Nov. 16th. The information in this link has helped me get some idea of what to expect.

The Main Street vehicles will have long ceased the day's operation before you're going to get your fireworks spot. They stop before the first parade of the day. I've never had a problem snagging my spot an hour or so before the show.

Where do you like sit/stand?

So...if your standing on the sidewalk (the red-brick colored area) right in front of the area with the compass...no one can stand in front of you because they rope off that entire area...the compass area and right up to the castle's drawbridge?

That would be where I want to stand if that's true. I'm pretty short and don't want some Jolly Green Giant standing in front of me...no offense to you Giants out there. It's tough being a short person. :rotfl:

Well last year, we showed up about 15-20 minutes early and there were people sitting all the way from the red brick area to the start of the hub area sort of scattered about, so we sat down in a large open area which was right in front of the sidewalk (the red brick area). There were a couple of people in front of us but we were all sitting down so there were no heads in my way. But yes they had the the compass area roped off right to the drawbridge, so if you're right at the ropes nobody will be in front of you.

That sounds pretty good. However...I'm going to try to see "Remember" on Saturday of Veteran's Day weekend so I think I'd better stake out our space a little earlier than you did. :rotfl2:

I understand why they want you to stand, but it would be great if they'd let us sit to watch the show...that way no one's head is in your way.

Hmmm...is there a second roped off area between the sidewalk and the star? Because when I was there a few weeks ago, the sidewalk between the street and the castle was a walkway, where they had cast members who kept people moving, moving, moving, all during the fireworks show, so even if you were right at the rope you still had people in front of you who were moving by on the sidewalk. It didn't look like they were allowing people to be in the area between the sidewalk and the star.

Well when we were there they weren't letting people between the sidewalk and the star either, but I'm wondering if they do things differently for believe fireworks. I've actually never seen Remember fireworks because I always go at christmas time, but I don't remember anybody walking in front of the ropes and we were all sitting. So, I don't know what to tell you. My new plan of attack though is to keep in the area of the hub about 2 hours early and then take notice of where other people start to wait and then wait with them. I know generally where I want to be so I'll just wait to see what happens.

I found a picture from last year, you can see we were all sitting, and it looks like our spot was on the street and I also don't see a rope at all. hmm, that's strange. I wonder how early the people first started to wait in the middle of the street. Anyways, this is the exact same spot I want to be in again this year.
