Fireworks in September Question

We're going to Disneyland in September for our anniversary and although this is our third trip as a family, we have never done any of the night time "stuff" in the past. This year we've decided to do the fireworks in Disneyland but not Fantasmic or WOC (long story, but they won't work for our little guy--but I can accommodate his needs and make the fireworks work...I think).

We're arriving in California in the mid-afternoon on a Saturday and planning on going into the park then and hopefully trying for fireworks that night. I figure the children will be well rested (they usually go to bed at 7:30 at home, so they're exhausted by the end of a DL trip!) and that will give us one extra chance (on Friday) to catch the fireworks if they're cancelled on Saturday b/c of weather (I think we're going to Legoland on Sunday).

I just watched the fireworks on YouTube and I'm in awe and so excited. I definitely want to try to see them on the castle--seeing Tinkerbell fly will amaze my daughter...who, herself, practices flying on a near daily basis. However I have some questions/concerns that I need advice on.

*I have read that when people are made to stand up, that gaps open up. Is it possible to filter in and fill those gaps (we are a family of four) or will people bite our heads off? I was thinking if we were hanging out in Tomorrowland... I'm assuming that not having a stroller would make this a lot easier.

*Any tips for viewing the fireworks (on the castle) without staking out a spot for hours? We'd prefer to visit Disneyland as a family and my little boy cannot handle staking out a spot for one hour, let alone multiple hours (my daughter could, but not my son.)

*Does Dumbo still fly?

*Is Tinkerbell's harness/guideline visible?

Thanks for the input!
Sarah

The only one I can really answer is Dumbo only flies during Magical which shows during the summer until Labor Day. If you are going after Labor Day you will see Remember Dreams Come True (the best fireworks show IMHO) which will have Tink, but not Dumbo.

We saw the fireworks the first week of June and we were standing a fair distance back on Mainstreet, and yes, you could see the lights glinting off of Tinks wire. I don't think my kids noticed though.

We were way back but I think we had a great view and we only showed up about ten minutes before the fireworks. We were walking down the street when everyone stood up and everyone mostly just shuffled forward filling up the gaps, so I think it would be a little difficult to filter in.

The CMs will make all the guests stand up for the fireworks around the Hub before the fireworks start. Sometimes the gaps when the people stand up for the fireworks will open. The only problem is to get inside the gaps when the people stand up. You have to walk through all of those people that waited for the fireworks. Some people won't like it when people show up at the last second for the fireworks. Just as the pp said that the CMs will asked all the guests to move up closely to fill all the gaps for the show. If you brought a stroller and tried to squeeze your way in through all those people, it will be very difficult to get in.

If you are going to DL during the off-season in September, you can get a street spot in front of SB castle with 30 minutes until the fireworks start. That is mostly likely on the left or right side of the castle. Sometimes if you can get lucky, you can get one in 15 minutes until the fireworks. I have seen people force their way in the viewing area before the fireworks and some people were mad that they take their spots since they saved the spot for their group. But since the fireworks will be only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the off-season, it shouldn't be that crowded unless on specific busy days.

Here are my videos of Magical and RDCT from the front of SB Castle.
