can you see these from outside anywhere? experience at WDW taught us that you can, wondering if it's possible to catch some magic just being nearby?
Also- I was thinking of heading into DL our 1st night, just to catch fireworks,maybe....would that work? don't care about 'premium' spots...just to get a view....

We've watched them from outside the park before. There is a pool outside at the Paradise Pier hotel that they are visible from. Also, they can be viewed from Theme Park view rooms at the DL Resort hotels.

also- I think the week we're there it's halloween parties- which we aren't attending,I assume the fireworks are at night for those? can you see from DTD,or other places nearby? or just the Dis hotels?

The main Disneyland fireworks are best seen from a good spot in DL. They are much better than Wishes. If you view from other places it will just be an ok show, like Wishes. See it right.

You can also see a lot of the evening fireworks from the plaza between Disneyland and DCA. You just pass through the security check and enter the plaza, and pick your spot. Lots of people bring blankets or towels to sit on while they're waiting.

Mickey & Friends parking structure - high floor if not the top floor.

Alternatively try the Sheraton on Ball Road, for "the backside of fireworks".

thanks for the replies....I am not sure anything is playing at night while we're there, either I'm reading the calendar wrong,or there are no fireworks at all the 1st week in October... maybe just for the halloween party, which as I said before,we won't be attending? I'd prefer somewhere in the park, but if we have no other choice,I wanted to know if it was possible....

Well, the night we arrived in CA, we had a perfect view of them from the freeway!! :) We also saw them on Katella ave from our hotel

The calendar is not updated yet. We will give you the scoop here!

In October, the regular fireworks will likely only show on Saturdays and Sundays and possibly Columbus Day. It is technically off-peak season and it's often windy in October, so that's probably how it will go. The Halloween Screams fireworks are party exclusives, and those will run on Fridays, Tuesdays and also on 2 Mondays - 10/3 and 10/31. Disneyland will close early on Tuesday, 10/4 for some other private event that is not a Halloween party.

Fantasmic will also not happen on Mickey's Halloween Party nights (because they fill up the Rivers of America with fog for atmospheric effect!). It, too, will probably just be a Saturday and Sunday event, except it may show on Columbus Day (10/10) since that's a holiday.

World of Color should run once nightly (maybe even twice) in DCA.
