Hi all. We are DVC members and my family of 4 go to Disney at least twice a year. My parents are coming with us for a couple days on our upcoming trip and while my mom goes with her school each year my dad hasn't been in about 30 years. So I'm trying to fit the highlights in without running the poor man into the ground! He really has no desire to go but ended up on this trip somehow. So I want to show him a good time without overwhelming him too much.

We are in MK on a Sat and I'm trying to schedule a dinner and everything is booked in the MK. No great loss as the food isn't all the great. I was thinking we'd do Kona cafe as that seems to have a little of everything AND it is only a monorail ride away.

My question is, can the fireworks be seen and heard from the beach at the Poly? Any other good spots around there? Is it worth taking the monorail back to MK just for the fireworks?

Yes, the beach at the Poly is a wonderful location to view and hear the fireworks. If you get to the beach a bit early, there are a few hammocks you can use.

I would also suggest grabbing some dole whip and sitting out at Sunset point! It is really nice and you can hear the music faintly. Ohana for dinner will give you a view of the fireworks as well!

Dinner at Kona followed by the watching the MK Fireworks at the Poly beach is a must do for us every trip. We really enjoy the serenity of just hanging on the beach watching the fireworks from afar.

However, there are not alot of chairs (lounge chairs) and they go quick. So, if he needs to sit, then you need to get there a little early.

Enjoy!!

The only time I've ever seen fireworks from Kona was when i told my wife she couldn't order the tonga toast!

Actually, you need to leave the chairs and hammocks for the Polynesian guests. They actually paid to stay there and should have first dibs on them.
