Greetings...

As a HUGE Disney fan and a big fan of Wishes...I have read a few times that it is quite the different and unique experience watching the fireworks from behind the castle...I have never done that and wonder now that I have seen them 20-30 times from Main Street perhaps it is time for a different perspective. Yes, I have done from poly beach and top of Contemporary. So, those of you who have done it...was it worth it once? Any thoughts on the "perfect" place to stand behind the castle?

Thanks

Anywhere in the new Fantasyland gives you a great view of the fireworks exploding above you. We have watched while waiting in line for Barnstormer, near Gaston's fountain, and along the walkway leading to BoG.

From the fountain area and Barnstormer, the fireworks appear to be directly overhead. Be aware, the noise level is quite high. The Barnstormer CM stated she got used to the loud booms. Personally, I used to oversee a deaf/hard of hearing program for a school district so continuous exposure to high intensity noise can be detrimental.

But, for a one evening view of fireworks, it certainly is a different perspective from behind the Castle.

We watched them from the 7DMT line back in October (Hallowishes). Best view we've ever had! We were completely encircled by them.

Our favorite spot used to be a round cement bench encircling a tree over by Dumbo 1.0 in old Fantasyland. That maps over now to being where the larger turret gates to New Fantasyland open up. I love that spot as you are literally surrounded by fireworks from many angles.

I sat over by the Rapunzel tower area once. It wasn't crowded and was a nice view. Some of them were not in view but I thought it was a pretty nice place to watch.

LOVE LOVE LOVE them back there but then we've seen them a million times in front. First time we realized was riding the old Dumbo during the fireworks in 1994 with no crowds.

The negatives: You will miss the on castle projections and at times there are short lulls while something happens out there but overall you are so close, your chest will boom. If you are trying to coordinate with first parade or castle project show it might now be best place.

We stand on the walkway/bridge heading to Gaston's next to the mine train.
- Fireworks will be going off all around you so it's immersive ;)
- The big fireworks are all shot off behind the park so you are so close to them.
- You will feel them as well as see them.
- The big ones still have a castle in view, the Beast's Castle.
- If you are lucky there is a young man in custodial who "directs" the entire show and he is fantastic. He needs a wand.
- You beat the crowds to any rides in New Fantasyland afterwards.
- Less crowded, some walls to sit on.
- And last time we had lots of engagements around us :lovestruc

Yes, we stood right outside the Prince Charming carousel one night and they were literally all around us, right above. Now for getting the feel of the whole show, it wasn't a great spot. But if you've seen it before and want a different perspective, it's pretty cool. Here's some pics:

and when it was over, it sort of looked like a war zone, lol

Since the actual fireworks are shot off a mile behind MK anything in the park works well. You do miss the castle fireworks depending on where you are (or you have the 360 thing others have mentioned). The best place for us is on big thunder, but you have to time it just right. :goodvibes

I watched them standing relatively close to the carousel one night. I LOVED the change of perspective and feeling like I was in the middle of it.

Yes - you miss the castle projections and how the fireworks are centered around the castle that the front view provides. That's a negative so I would not recommend the backside view for a first-timer.

But - for someone who has seen them multiple times - I thought it was great to experience them from a different spot. I loved feeling like I was in the middle of it all perspective. And - it was less crowded and I could get where I was headed after the show quickly!

We loved watching the fireworks from behind the castle, we sat at the outside tables of Pinocchio village Haus, and had a blast. You really feel you are in the middle of the fireworks!

As stated above, if you are a fan of the projections on the castle you will miss that, but for just the enjoyment of the fireworks, it is a great place to see them.

Last trip ('11) we stood sort of between the Haunted Mansion and the queue for the riverboat, leaning on the rock wall. It was an amazing perspective and we plan on doing that again. It's also a lot less crowded--which is a major bonus!

Actually the fireworks are going up about 500 feet behind BOG. This photo is looking south into New Fantasyland from the firework bunker site.

We did this on our trip in 2013. In 2014 we watched them from Main Street again. It was so crowded. :( We decided that unless there is a new fireworks show, we will watch the fireworks from FL from now on.

Not nearly that far.
The launch area is just beyond (maybe 150-250 feet past) the northernmost tracks of the WDW Railroad.

In addition to the photo HopperFan posted,
below is a straight-down image.
The RR tracks are seen as the dark line cutting through the trees
about a third of the way down from the top of the image.

Ditto all above . We have watched them from behind the castle more than once and it is a very cool vantage point but the best thing about it is the fact that it is not nearly as crowded as it is in the front! I am pretty short and on Main Street I invariably ended up next to some tall fellow in a tank top who forgot his deoderant!

We watched HalloWishes from behind the carousel one night it was truly magical! My 2 year old hated it (doesn't like loud noises and we were only just figuring that out) so we took turns soothing him. Everyone else loves it from there!
