I read on someone's trip report that they took their baby to the Baby Care Center during the MK fireworks. I've never been to the BCC or even thought about noise levels during fireworks but thought I would throw the idea out there.

I know that I'm going to actually have to take the sound deadening head phones that my dad gave me when he retired from being a fireman when I go to DL this fall. They worked wonders (and the funny part is that they call them Mickey Mouse ears for some reason).

We have kid peltors for our little guy for the fireworks. I don't remember this question on the email show (was stressing for most of the show driving in Downtown Denver construction traffic ). But if they are for a toddler or younger child, they are great. Merrick slept through IllumiNations and we were right up to the railing at the lagoon. He was 6 months old when he was wearing them and it looks like they will fit him for years to come! (There is a picture of him somewhere on this board with them on.) Ultimately, he was able to see the fireworks, but not be scared by the bangs!

FYI - The original question was, 'Where can I take my 9mo that's not to far from my family during the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom?"

I've seen Wishes a ton of times, so I would be trying to hide his little ears from the loudness of it all, then when the fireworks were over I could catch back up with my family quickly.

I am still going to recommend those peltors....that way, no need to catch up with the family...you and the little on can hang out with them the whole time. Oh, and DS slept through the candlelight processional, too with them on and we were up front near the horns....work like a charm. (Thanks for clarifying your question, too!!!)

Yup, I've got a pair kind of like those except mine are the adult version...they work really well...

Our DD3 does not like fireworks and now gets scared even at the mention of the word. Last year I took her into the changing room of the gift shop near Peco Bills (perhaps its called the Laughin Place) while my DW watched the fireworks with our DD6 nearby.

When we went to the P&P party in February 2007, I took our daughter on Its a Small World to keep her away from the fireworks. There was no one on line and the boat was just about empty, so the CM let us ride again without getting off. So, we rode IASW twice and by the time the second ride was done the fireworks were over.

I made the mistake of forcing my then 2yo DD to watching the MK fireworks show and it dramitized her so much that now even though she is 6, she is still scared of them. (I know I feel so bad) However, we have come up some good solutions.

1. Country Bear Jamboree At MK, works great.

2. We goto the Contemporary and let her do some window shopping while I watch from the roof or the 4th floor outside section facing the MK.

3. BEST BET: Book a reservation at the Polynesian's 'Ohana rest for a time that is about 20-30 mins before the start of the show then ask for a window seat facing the castle (hence making it so much eariler) and they pipe the music from the show into the restaurant. IN fact the music sounds so much better than listening to it in the park since it is not coming from al over the place. You get a great meal, and a great show, plus it helps expose the kids who are scared to the fireworks a little at a time.

4. At other places you can do this, there are child care places at the Wilderness Lodge, Beach Villas, etc that allow you to drop your child off at a great care facility where they will have a great time and you can have a great time as well. If you are lucky, the kids will get so knocked out that they will easily fall asleep back at the room.

5. Worse case, bring the earplugs AND the good headphones (the kind constructor workers use)

PS - My brother listens to the podcast, and when I told him I was on the call-in show he asked which question was mine and I told him. He then proceded to tell me my question was stupid......
