Fireworks During MNSSHP

We have a very tight schedule for our trip later this month. I originally planned to squeeze Wishes in one evening (between dinner and Pleasure Island...), but then realized that there are fireworks at the Halloween party, which we are going to. Now I'm reading conflicting info on the fireworks. Some people say the fireworks are better for the party, a Halloween version of Wishes. Others say it's a Halloween version of an old fireworks show and not as good.

I would wait until reports of what they are doing this year comes in, except we will be at the first party of the year, 1 Oct.

I guess I have several questions... What are they likely to do this year? How did the MNSSHP fireworks compare with Wishes last year? What makes Wishes special in general and can a person get enough out of Wishes if not watching from in the MK.

It would take quite a bit of time for us to get into the park to watch wishes on the night that we have available since we would be doing other things that day. Unless we go in to MK to watch Wishes the only time we were going to be in MK was for MNSSHP.

Thanks! T&B

In the last year I've seen Wishes and the MNSSHP fireworks. They were different. Both incredible!!! The MNSSHP were just a bit more incredible. I would try and see both if you could.

Glad that they are both good! What makes Wishes such a good show? Just trying to determine how much of a priority it would be to go since it would mean not doing something else that evening (not enough evenings!). Also, does a person need to be in the MK to really appreciate the show?

Last year, the fireworks during MNSSHP were a Halloween version of Fantasy in the Sky, not Wishes. However, Wishes had just premiered earlier in the month and I don't think they had worked out a "party" version yet.

Oh, so maybe they will have a "party Wishes" this year. That would be great.

I have seen a lot of versions of Disney's fireworks shows over the years, and I have never seen one that rivals Wishes. I don't know how to describe why it's so spectacular except to say that there are formations and fireworks that I didn't know could be done. The music was beautiful, and it just took my breath away. I never felt the need to see Fantasy in the Sky, but I've been telling friends when they went down not to miss Wishes if they can help it.

I think 1/2 of the greatness behind Wishes is the music and narration. It is really moving. The other half is truly just the amazing display of fireworks and how they play along to the music/story.

We will be first timers planning to see Wishes and go to MNSSHP. We're watching this thread because we were planning to watch the MNSSHP fireworks from outside the park on our first night.

At MVMCP last year the did the regular Wishes.

That's good to know. Probably increases the chance that they will do either Wishes or a Halloween version of wishes for MNSSHP. We'll probably take our chances and not watch anything but the Halloween night fireworks. I don't know that my DH cares, not that I've mentioned it to him, and I will be at WDW again in early December and again in late January so will have a chance to see it a time or two.
