Firework question/opinion

Okay, here my big question: We are going to WDW for 1 day before or DCL trip. We are going to go to Epcot to see the flower festival. We are staying at BLT, with a park view room and have access to the roof. Do we not see Illuminations at Epcot and be sure an be back to BLT for the MK fireworks, or chance it and try and see both. I think if we stay at Epcot its going to be tight on time.

Thoughts please and has anyone watched to MK fireworks from the roof.

Illuminations at Epcot lasts about 12 minutes. You'll have a 5 - 10 minute walk to the monorail and about 15 -20 minutes of travel time on the two monorail lines. Add in 5 -15 minutes of waiting for the monorails and time to get to the roof. It's not impossible, but I wouldn't recommend it. Also, don't forget that most people leave the parks after the fireworks, so you'll be in a lot of crowd traffic leaving Epcot on your way to the monorail.

We did both Illuminations and then Wishes from the room in one night. It's going to be a mad dash, but it can be done. We rented a car and even that was cutting it close. You wouldn't have a chance if you do the Monorail with a transfer at TTC.

For my money, I'd try to see Fantasmic show and then get to Magic Kingdom or any of the Monorail Resort viewing spots for Wishes fireworks. Illuminations and the long walk to an EPCOT exit having me saying, "Meh."

A few years ago we watched fireworks from all the Monorail spots - including Bay Lake Park View villa, Bay Lake Lounge, and CA Grill. Consensus on MK fireworks - views from Polynesian and Grand Floridian were second only to inside the Magic Kingdom.

Bay Lake / CA Grill are off to the side for non-optimal viewing of MK fireworks. However, catching, Wishes, and, I believe, more than just a glimpse of Illuminations and Fantasmic fireworks are also cool to watch from CA Grill....but not the best view of any of these fireworks.

Personally, my family has done the following - Fantasmic show (exit stage left) and a then a bus to Contemporary. Grab a cocktail at Contemporary. Walk or Monorail to MK. Fireworks may have started just before or after you're going through security. Sometimes we just grab the cocktail atop Bay Lake (and order one more for the room/road ).

I'll finish with this notion - if you are trying to include two Disney nighttime activities into one evening, you are already way ahead of the typical patron and will likely accomplish your goal. Maybe better yet, if you are an on-site guest, fold nighttime Extra Magic Hours into the mix (for MK in particular because of late fireworks) and you are 'golden'.
