This sounds like a crazy question, but I have a friend at work who says he has toured the Reedy Creek Fire Department and now he has another friend's SIL interested. The problem is, we've never heard of this and wouldn't even begin to know who to contact to get more information. Anyone else ever heard of this? If you have, we'd appreciate any info you might have! Thanks!

Which one, there are four stations around WDW. Maybe contacting the department will get you the information you want. Their website is here. Be sure to let us know what you find out if you do contact them.

Thank you for the website! I will try to contact them and see what they say about tours. I think the station Bob toured is the large station near the Car Care Center but I'm not totally sure. Keith (the SIL) would probably be happy with a tour of any of the stations if they would allow it.

Last year for the ECCU (Emergency Cardiac Care Update) Conference, they offered a tour of the Reedy Creek Fire & Emergency Station. Being the Nerd that I am, I wanted to go - but it just didn't fit in to our schedule. So, I know that they do at least have a tour - but be sure to let us know if it is something that is regularly offered!

Go to the new station ( about 2 yrs old) it is cool . They will give you a tour at any of them . They only walk ya around just like the do at any fire station. It is not a tour like you would get at one of the parks if that is what you thinking : )

Its cool though and they shirt trade :goodvibes

Indy Jammer what is the ECCU conference, and how can you attend? I am always looking for confereneces like this. DO they have a website?

It was through the American Heart Association (And their website). I moonlight as an instructor for Healthcare Provider CPR - I have done so since my 2nd year of Dental School. When they rolled out the Big Update/New Protocol, there was a big conference at Coronado Springs last Summer. I'm always looking for an excuse to go to WDW!

Sadly, there are no more AHA conferences scheduled for WDW in the next year or so! I am always on the lookout for new WDW CE though!

If it is in fact an official tour like the Steam trains, etc... you should be able to get all the information from 407-WDW-TOUR . They have nearly all the info about all of the "extra" tours, and if they can't book them, they will tell you who to call.

The tours aren't part of WDW's "official" tours. Rather, they're something that the Reedy Creek Improvement District's Emergency Services (their fire/EMS department) does, for free, just for the asking. You'll find virtually every fire department in the nation doing the same thing. Just give them a call (on the NON-Emergency line, please!) & they'll probably set it up for you. Or just stop on by, especially at their headquarters station (the one that looks like a Lego fire station, near the Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club). They'll be happy to host you!

I did their tour back during the EMS Today conference, sponsored by JEMS magazine, around 2000. They were terrific, & very gracious hosts!

Enjoy the Magic!

Thanks again for all the help! I passed on the website URL to my friend and she was going to give it to her DD and SIL today. They were probably going to send out contact info tonight but I won't see my friend again for about 2 weeks.

DBF informed me today that the EMS Expo and Conference is being held October 9-13th in Orlando. It's at the Orange County Convention Center.

I don't know the area so don't know how close everything is but now he's saying maybe we should go down for the weekend to celebrate my birthday (Oct. 19th) :cool1: He's never been to Disney and we are planning a January trip but this could certainly turn out interesting.

He would be paid for (he's a paid medic) but I doubt my department would pay for me to attend (voly).
