Fire at US California

Hi,

We were at the Studios a month ago while on vacationing at Disneyland. Sad to think that we were on that ride and now some of it is gone. They say King Kong is completely destroyed as well as NY Street. There are 2 Video Vaults. The arrow points to the one that burned. Here are 2 pictures I took while heading down the escalator to the Back Lot Tour:

that sucks majorly. Hope they can recoop from this....which they prolly will.

DS told me that he heard that the Back to the Future set was burned down. Has anyone heard that?

New York Street is bad enough if it's anything like the Orlando version. Great theming.

But I am so glad that the film vault is OK and that no one has been badly hurt. Wow!

Yes unfortanntly:( Thats were they filmed the clocktower scene

Well they can rebuild the NY sets, that's not a huge problem, and maybe they'll bring back King Kong better than ever...but it's too early to think about those things really, first they need to make sure everyone stays safe...its going to hurt business though :(

Disney Mom: This would never happen at Disney!

Yea it is a loss. Hope they end up containing it.

All the sets can be rebuilt but I was worried about the film vault until they said that the masters was not stored there and what was destroyed they could redo.
That was great news and while it does hurt buisness the crazy thing about it all was people wanting to be in the park while the fire was going on in the backlot.
How crazy is that and hear it now honey lets take jr into the toxic smoke to see what it does :furious:

I'm so glad that the clock tower is apparently safe. I'm still not clear on the courthouse though.

Poor Kong. :(

Just thinking about Kong for a minute....I wonder what Universal did with the Orlando version of Kong? I mean if they have it in storage somewhere, they could possibly put that back together there...

Yeah a bunch of movie sets were burned including things in production. That's too bad...
