just lettin you know, got a message in my emails this morning. there has been a fire at IOA, everything is good, although there is a slight bit of dammage to the park, they will have to fix. mainly, a ride, and an eating diner

The email you got was not accurate. No buildings or rides were even damaged.

Truck catches fire at Universal

A truck caught fire at Universal's Island of Adventure this morning but will not affect park operations.

Firefighters saw a column of fire when they arrived at the theme park this morning just before 5 a.m., then spotted a vaccuum truck next to a building that was on fire.

The flames were in the engine and cab of the truck, said Orlando Fire Department spokesman Daniel Velez.

Firefighters quickly put out the blaze, keeping the flames from the building housing Wimpy's Restaurant in the Toon Lagoon area of the park.

"The building was never compromised," Velez said.

No one was injured in the fire.

True. A car engine fire wouldn't even make the news but if it happens at a themepark, it's big news, even though it happened 4 hours before the park was even open. It was business as usual at IoA that day.

I'm not sure I understand as both IoA and IOA are correct abbreviations. (Similar to PoTC or POTC)

I'm assuming that TTA just misread or for some reason "I" looks like "E" on his/her monitor. TTA received an email with some misinformation and felt it was factual and wanted to share the story. That's OK. We've all heard rumors before that turned out to be false. No harm in that. Now we have the facts that the fire was just an engine fire and no damage occurred. So I'm going to close this thread. I hope that TTA continues to post on this board as we really are a friendly bunch.
