My neighbor's husband was staying there on business and she mentioned it to me yesterday.

It's been on the news. Some idiot put out a cigareete in a fake plant and caught it on fire, and the embers caught other fake plants on fire. They evacuated the hotel in the middle of the night, and the hotels security staff had everything out with hand held fire extinguishers before the FD arrived seven minutes after the alarm was pulled.

Good ending to a stupid action. Yet another reason to allow smoking in hotels, cruise ships, etc. ONLY in specified smoking areas which can be closely monitored so the innocent public isn't put at risk because someone chooses to poison themselves.

I always have a fear of the hotel I'm staying at catching on fire from some "dufus" like that.
