Anyone have any firetruck or emergency vehicle pics to share? I have access to fire trucks, and it just bugs the living daylights out of me that I can never seem to capture the emotion I feel when i'm seeing them. (Anyone understand that or am I just being *a girl about it* as my 13 year old would say)

Anyone want to share theirs and show me how it's done? :rotfl2:

Oh, and I'd LOVE to see some HDR firetruck pics that aren't so overdone that they look grimey. (I love HDR pics. But usually like them to have that "dreamy" or "shiny/slick" or "awe" feeling. The grungy ones usually just don't do it for me....:confused3 )

Anyone? :flower3:

I just got my camera and have not had a chance to really take any yet. We are on the same page though. My husband is the chief of our volunteer fire department. Alot of my life revolves around the department. I am going to get them to dress up in their turn out gear and take some photos soon. I am still practicing and learning about my camera. I am taking a class this fall. When I get some made I will post them. We should keep this going and give each other ideas.

Get some firefighters in the shots. If their kids are available, that would also be nice.

here are a couple from where I work, not the best shots but hopefully they work

Ha Ha my midle one is always available. He is only seven but, he already has his own turn out gear AND boots.

If your willing to wait a bit, illl give this a shot. Im headed up home in 5 days and will have unrestricted access to the fire trucks. I bake cookies for the firefighters every christmas so they spoil me.

The neighbors had a late night emergency...they are fine now. :)

Sounds like a plan.....except my picture taking will go WAY DOWN in August. I go back to work and school (both full time). :sad1:

But I still want to see what you get!!! :thumbsup2

Hi Neighbor! :wave2:

I'm near Baton Rouge. :)

Glad to see I'm not the onlyone who can't resist the truck pics! (....even when they are through the car windshield! I do the same thing! LOL!) :thumbsup2

ETA...were they driving with their ladder door open???

I got all the time in the world...LOL!

It's just a thing that's bugging me about my lack of ability when it comes to getting *that shot*. (If that even makes sense...LOL)

I was taking some shots of the local firemen's parade. I was trying for a certain effect, and didn't get it, but the shots aren't awful, either. IMO, these I consider "unsuccessful", but I'll share them anyhow.

Earlier, before the trucks came down the street, my neighbors were sitting out close to the road, with their little dog Bentley. But as the trucks got closer, all the sirens had Bentley going nuts, and they had to take him inside. Betty then stayed in with Bentley, and Bill moved further away from the road, back to the middle of his yard. I was looking to get an "Americana" shot. But the only way to get Bill and the trucks nice and tight was for the truck to get closer to me, and in doing so they then dominated the frame. Without the trucks dominating the frame, the points of interest are too far apart. Oh, well. If I was going to do any further work with them, I'd probably photoshop the mailbox out, but the shots don't work for me, so I'm kind of done with them.

Isn't that just annoying?!? LOL! They're still really good pics...just not what you want. Sometimes that's more frustrating than flubbing the shot completely.

Gotta say though, I LOVE the old truck.....pretty!

Umm, anyone know why I cannot get an embedded photo to show in this post?

Hi, here's a photo I shot in Boston of a fire truck coming down the road:

I kind of lucked out with this one. I was stepping out of a cafe when I heard the siren. I was already in TV (shutter priority) mode, so I was able to slow the shutter down to get some nice motion blur.

Regards,

Adam
