I'm a little disappointed. I've lost 3 pounds and no inches. I've been working out everyday.
The first few days I ate some sugar alcohol stuff -- didn't know I shouldn't. But, even with that I didn't go over 30g.
I usually have an omlette for breakfast w/ cheese or left over meat, bacon etc.
The rest of the day is patty with cheese, salad with boiled eggs, etc.
I haven't eaten anything that's not on the official list. I know I hit ketosis, I had that funny taste. That's gone now. Do you think 30g. got me out of ketosis?
According to fitday I've been eating about 2100 cal per day. Is that too much? It's still less than I burn and I don't want to get too low and slow my metabolism.
Am I just being impatient?
Thanks for your encouragement.

I know how you feel about a slow loss. I am in that same situation with SB. I don't have answers about sugar alcohols, as SB doesn't restrict those. What I can say is that I think fitday allows way too many calories for lifestyle. I was supposed to be able to maintain at 2600 cals according to fitday, and that was way too many. I mean, most of the nutritional info on packages is calculated for a 2000 calorie a day diet. I'm figuring that that is (should be) equillibrium for a healthy individual, and one can add/subtract a few 100 calories from that, but not 500-1000! (unless you are male. NOT FAIR!) So, agian, not being familiar with atkins, I'm not sure what the average intake on induction should be, since those induction phases "don't count calories." However, when I chart my intake following the suggested meal plans on SB, it rarely goes much beyond 1000 calories. No wonder folks feel like caca, on these plans in the beginning. I wish I could tell you the answer, but your own weight and body fat ratio has a lot to do with how you metabolise your food. The heavier you are, the more you tend to burn during physical activity, but if your body fat ratio, is high, then the rate is slower, than if your weight was muscle.
OK, you probably know all this stuff anyway. If it were me, I would start shaving off a few calories, and see if that helps. Also consider any water or waste your body may be hanging on to. LC diets are (as I'm finding out) notorious for contributing to constipation. Keep that in mind too. Don't give up. You know your body and what it needs. Just do what you know is right for you. Good luck!

30g may be a bit too much. If you are just finishing your 1st week of induction you should not be eating more than 20g of carbs. A clean induction should be at least 2 full weeks of no more than 20 g. After that 2 wks then you can start adding back in some more carbs, but I believe it's only 5 a week.

And, Don't be disappointed...3 lbs is still a good loss. If you cut your carbs back a little bit it may give you the jump start you're looking for. Good luck to you! and keep up the good work!

And right now they are doing their spelliing so I can talk to you. :)

I'm on Atkins. Yes, stay away from the sugar alcohols during induction. And I think cheese is somewhat limited also. One or two ounces a day at most, I believe.

I try to keep my carbs at 20 g. or less a day. Sometimes that means 14 g. and other times, 22 g.. My calorie intake can get to 1800 but sometimes it is only 1200. Just depends on how hungry I am that day.

I use Fitday sometimes, too. I ( and others on this board, I might add) lose best if FAT is around 60-70%. Sounds high, but when you input your food for the day, it's suprising how it adds up. If your fat intake is to low, you won't lose as well and worst of all, you get hungrier (which in turn makes you crave food, and we all know what we usually go after when we do that! :) ).

I also try not to eat more than 3-4 oz of meat at one time. Something I read somewhere about the body not being able to use more than 20 g. of protein at a time. Now, sometimes when I'm out to dinner and I have a 10 oz. steak, I don't worry about it. I'm talking about in general.

Ketosis: Do you have the Keto sticks that you can get from the pharmacy. I cut each one in half (a pain ) because they are so expensive and I use them a lot. (I probably shouldn't but they are a source of encouragement for me) Warning.....the more water you drink (and you should be drinking lots of water) the less purple/pink your stick will turn. It makes logical sense. The more water, the less concentrated the ketones in your urine. It doesn't mean ketones are not there in big numbers, so be happy with any shade of pink. :)

Sorry so long. Hope this helps. There are lots of Atkins experts on this board that I will bow to if they have any thing to add or change. :teeth:

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. Since I made so many mistakes this week, I'll just pretend that was a practice and 'officially' start over.

My appetite went away about the 3rd day, so I've been eating JUST BECAUSE. I could do with less calories, I'll switch from so much beef to turkey or chicken, maybe that will cut some.

Mom of SB&B, isn't homeschooling wonderful. We can go to Disney off season!!!!!!!!!
