Has anyone ever had their fingernails begin to peel? I believe there must be a defiency in some vitamin/nutrient but I need to look that up. What did you do? Thanks.

Since I started eating low-carb both my fingernails and hair are growing at a record rate. My nails tend to break at the quick though if they get too long and I'm not careful while gardening.

My skin is looking better too, I think it's because the increased water consumption more than the high-protein.

I take a packet of multi-vitamins daily and add ester C and chromium to it.

Mine Have always peeled. No idea why. If it's something new, though, it might be a vitamin thing.

You may want to try posting on teh CB. I think poohandwendy is a cosmetician. She's very helpful and I belive she frequents that board.

Okay...I started my serious dieting back at the end of march. About a month or two later, I started losing my hair. Now, 4 months out, my nails are all screwed up....all thin and peely.

I think it is somehow diet related, but looking back I do not see how I was missing any nutrients.

Have you gone to the Dr.? My hair is great and actually since I have not been wearing polish the last week my nails have stopped peeling!

i have always had this problem, i found a product called NailTek that works really well. I put it on at least once a week, usually more and I don't have as much as a problem as I did before.
