Finger Scanning-what a joke

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make any sense to me...but isn't my puppy the cutest dog ever?

But seriously, no.
My dog is.

Um that is kinda why you cant share an all you can eat buffet. It is cheating, and if you can't see that then you need to get glasses. End of story.

Bad analogy and insults don't help anyone.

I guess here's the bottom line for me (and probably most other people). I'm not going to misuse a ticket. The people who do misuse tickets are saving money by breaking a rule that I'm unwilling to break. That's probably why people have strong feelings about this, because they see other people abusing the system, and getting rewarded for it.

Disney is a big rich corporation, so it's easy to justify the ticket misuse... come on, what's the harm if I sneak a few dollars out. Again, I hate to use this analogy, but I used to know a kid in high school who would only shoplift from big department stores, not local gas stations and Mom&Pop stores, his justification being that the big department stores were greedy and wealthy and bad. But thank goodness for finger scanning, if it means that a 7-day pass costs about $3 more than a 6-day pass. Makes it a lot easier for me to stay an extra night in the World.

The candy bar analogy doesn't work, because Disney is selling that 10-day pass to you at a cheaper rate because they're selling for YOU and YOU ONLY. There's probably a few reasons why it makes economic sense for Disney to sell you a 10-day pass for only a little bit more than a 5-day pass (as opposed to charging 2x for a 10-day pass).

First, people who stay longer are probably staying on-site, spending more of they vacation money in the World. The hard-core Disney fans are the ones buying the 10-day passes, it's the family staying on International Drive who wants a 5-day pass.

Second, Disney makes a killing on merchandise and food, and the 10-day pass user is going to be more likely to spend more on a per day basis than the 5-day user. It's catering to they Disney-freak who can't get enough of Disney world. That's why the 7 and 10 day passes are just a few extra dollars per day over the 5-day pass. It's a perk to the hardcore Disney folks who spend, spend, spend.

When you take that 10-day pass intended for a Disney freak, staying on site, spending like mad, and split it up into 5-day stays for a casual vacationer, Disney is probably losing money on the deal. They get less $$ per day on average, and probably even less in the food and merchandise, where the profit margins are higher.

Look here Pete. Are you telling me that you have never worn glasses at all you can eat buffet?

Disney is moneysucking the consumer, imho.

I dont agree with that.

One ticket = 1 person. Its that simple. The tickets arent meant to be for more than one person. Thats taking advantage of Disney. You dont go to the fair and pay 10 dollars to get in for one ticket, and then go to the fence and slip your ticket outside to your friends. Thats stealing and its imoral. This shouldnt be a debate.

This system was put in place because mean people on ebay, sold their tickets that were used up to unsuspecting families.

So think of the family that bought tickets for their family, only to get to the turnstyle, and find out theyre expired. And the family is out 500 bucks or more, and Disney isnt at fault, yet Disney has to satisfy these people. Because they booked their hotel room and everything. Its a huge mess.

Besides if your in THAT big of a hurry ot get into Disney, you should have planned a longer vacation. 10 minutes waiting to get in, is nothing. And expressing your negative attitude towards the turnstyles in front of your children is only going to make them grow up to be impatient just like you.

Do you see anything wrong if I would be able to give me one day ticket at 3:00PM to someone waiting outside to buy a ticket so they can get in for free?

If you don't see anything wrong, I'll just agree to disagree. If you see something wrong in this example, I'd be interested in hearing an argument about how this is different than the example above.
This is a good example.

By the same token, how about an annual pass? Isn't that just a 365 day block of time? Guess Disney doesn't lose money if they let annual passholders share their passes with their friends, too.

I think what it all comes down to, and that we all have to agree on is that the Tiki Room has got to be the most boring thing at the Walt Disney World and should be burnt to the ground.

Noone is saying that anyone should be allowed to use other people's passes or tickets. (Where do you get these tokens you are talking about). I think what those of us who disagree with all you "rule followers" (and there are only 2 of us who disagree), is that Disney at the end of the day, after they count up all of there pennies, is probably going to come out making some money, that is all.

WOW
I feel like I'm in debate class listening to a debate.
So I will just add to the mix and say I think the real reason is not only not to share tickets and to make longer lenght of stay passes more affordable but because so many people bought used tickets on ebay that were already used up. I sure would not want to be the CM who had to tell that excited family that they were out the money because the tickets NO GOOD.
On the lighter side....... I told my 24 year old son if I die before I use all my days on my non expire ticket then he was to have the mortion remove my two bio-scan fingers take them to Disney where he would buy his pass use my fingers and my pass to get my fingers in. (He uses his pass to get in of course). Then I told him to take my fingers on all the rides with him, That since I paid for those tickets I was gonna use them. And if anyone asks him why just to tell them mom wants to get her moneys worth.
LOL
Lighten up everyone and enjoy your Disney Trips.

You're right, that is stealing.
But no one was using that as an example.
That's two people entering the Park on one ticket.
Apples and oranges there.

"Buyer beware"
Why am I being punished because of stupid people.
That's why I think Disney should toughen ticket expiration enforcement.

:confused3
Huh? where did this come from?
"negative attitude"?
And then a wild inaccurate judgement about my relationship with my kids?
You know greenyskp, sometimes in life people are going to disagree with things you hold dear. You just have to learn to be civil.

For the record I'm a AP person.
We stay for 2 to 3 weeks at a time so it's beneficial that way.
The 10 day thing was only an example.

How so? You paid for more food, but not as much as if you bought each item you will eat individualy. Just like you paid for more days but not as much as had you bought those days individualy. In the end you should not be allowed to share either.

Your right. 1 person can use that ticket during the time it is good for. And nobody else.

Yeah, 1 person can use Day #1 and then 1 person can use Day #2.......

:earsboy:

I think anymore on this would just be redundant.
I just see it differently.

I play by the same rules as you all do.
I'm just against the restrictive and, in my eyes, unfair ticket agreement.

So for all of you against ticket sharing...If a starving, poor, orphan child was outside of the magic kingdom gates in his wheel chair, and his dying wish was to come in to the park to ride Dumbo and have a turkey leg, and you knew you had an extra day on your 7 day park hopper pass, you wouldn't let him use it? :(

This is getting crazy now.

Just because you keep saying this, doesn't make it true. And no one else is buying what you are selling except for WedwayRocks, who I believe is just trolling for the fun of it.

But, go ahead. Buy a partially-used ticket. When the turnstiles won't let you in, and you don't have an ID that matches the signature on the ticket, you can explain to the CM at the gate how what you are doing is totally and perfectly reasonable. And to the CM's manager. And the security CM that they eventually call to have you taken to a quiet, out-of-the-way space. Off property. Private property. Owned by the company that sets the rules for admission media.

In any event, this discussion is completely academic. The finger scans are good enough to detect maybe 9 out of 10 instances of ticket sharing, and are probably even better than that. That's enough to kill the market for resold, partially-used tickets, except for the truly ill-informed who buy them off ebay without knowing what they are doing.

And Wedway: you'd have to fight your way through WDW management falling all over themselves to let the orphaned kid in for free (plus mouse ears and a complimentary 5x7 photo with Mickey) for the publicity it would garner.

I'm against the restrictive and, in my eyes, unfair tax code.

If I decided to play by my own tax rules, the IRS would probably have a problem with that.

If I decided to play by my own Disney rules, I'm sure they would have a problem with that. I don't like to stand in line, either, so should I choose not to follow that rule, too?

Sorry, but that earlier post about the Tiki Room got me all riled up. Tiki Room ROCKS!
