Quick question: Can you use any finger in the new "one finger" finger scanner or do you have to use your right hand index finger? What if someone can't use that finger? TIA

Yes it is your right index finger. If you can't use that one they would probably require ID when you use your ticket.

That's interesting. I can't use my right index finger (due to an injury that caused a bump in my middle joint). They have me use my left hand?

I meant to ask about this! We used the finger scanner for the first time this last weekend. What was up with that? :confused3
I figure what is the chance anyone will get the correct finger in just the same spot with the same amount of pressure as the first time?
I was only thinking this because at USO we used a locker one time at Mummy and had a HECK of a time getting the blasted thing open because it did not want to recognize our print again. I bet we spent 10 minutes trying to get in the locker.

Oh -- and as advice -- the ticket machine did not spit our ticket flying out the back like usual. Neither one of us thought our ticket came out. But the machine pops out the ticket maybe an inch and you have to look behind the machine to see it poking out.

I have not been there recently enough to see the new finger scanners but I suspect you can use any finger you want to and can get your hand in position for so long as you use the same finger for every admission.

Disney's finger scanners currently don't capture enough detail to record finger prints but the scanners could be modified to record finger prints any day for any or all admission tickets and no one would know until they found out on these boards or were told so by a CM.

I've always wanted to tell them I'm in the wintenss relocation program, and don't feel safe with them scanning my fingers. I wonder what their reaction would be.

We were just there two weeks ago. Most of the time, they were still using the two finger scanners. There were times at several parks that they weren't using any scanners; on those days, you just put your card in and passed through. It seems like groups of people who had trouble using the scanners were just being let in anyway as long as their ticket was valid. They never used one for DD 3. Who knows what they'll be up to when you go! Have fun!

Probably the same as it was for the 100 people previous to you who pulled that gag ;)

They are testing the one finger scanners at MK. Not all of the turnstiles at MK have them.

Sometimes when they are busy they turn off the scanning so you get through quickly.

Like last night... and even though the CMs were saying NO FINGER SCAN - people were still trying to do it!

We have yet to hit one of the "one finger" scan turnstiles - we've been in MK four times in the last 8 days- but then we ALWAYS get in the SLOWEST line.

Honestly, I don't think it matters. When my boyfriend and I went to Disney we switched tickets by mistake and our fingerprints weren't specific to our tickets. I think they're just looking to make sure you're not on a government terror list or something when you give your print. You can probably use any finger if you had to.

As you are facing the train station at the turnstiles the one finger scanners are the end two on either side of the entrance with no bags. I am probably confusing you. :)

Actually, they do not take the print at all, and they are certainly not checking it against some national database. It's a biometric scan, checking bone structure, not fingerprints.

We had less problem with the scanners on our trip last week than we did with our magnetic strips not reading. I kept them away from camera, phone, etc., but I did usually have them together because I was the person who got FP's. On our last day, my DH and DS20's tickets would not read at any of the FP machines, but we did not bother having them replaced since it was our last day. I just spoke with the CM at any FP machines after trying the tickets, and he or she would push the button to spit out a couple more.

I'm glad to hear they are trying a new system. I always have a hard time with the 2 finger machine. I'm not sure why, but it just wouldn't work. :confused3

Nope - not confusing me! We usually head for the turnstiles further toward the ends that many times seem to have shorter lines.... I started letting DD pick the line - she is usually luckier than I!

We have APs and my DDs was always becoming demagnitized even though I kept them away from all the no nos - I finally put them in one of the plastic business card holders that have a "pocket" on either side - so they never touch! I don't even put them one on top of the other if I take them out for FPs, etc - I make DD hold her ticket. We got tired of having to have it replaced every time we entered a park, and being one of THOSE people that HELD up the line!

Although I'm not 100% sure in the way they are linked - but some tickets are "linked" together in the database.

It's either done by tickets that are sold together as a group ( most likely option)

or

It's done by linking people who go through the turnstyle within X seconds of eachother.

Either way though, your two tickets were linked together, thus if you accidently switch them it won't take a couple minutes to play the "lets switch and see who's is who's" game

 Now That DW Is Using Single Finger Scanning, Is The Two Finger Biometric Data Tied To My Tickets That Were Previously Used Now Obsolete.

Hope it works out, the 2 finger is a pain in the ???

The system is capable of holding both one finger and two finger scans for every ticket so the different kinds of turnstiles can co-exist for a long time without causing additional visible problems.
