Hi there-
Just curious....
I am wondering if anyone has tried to use their family members ticket only to be turned away with the finger scan.

1) If you fail, they try again.
2) If it continues to fail, they ask you for the original receipt.
3) They also ask a series of questions (which we won't give hints here).
4) With the economy, they are tightening up swapping of tickets.
5) If they declare you are not the owner/user, the ticket is confiscated.

On our last two trips where the finger scanners were in place, we were never turned away. We never signed our tickets and DH was the "ticket keeper." Upon entering a park, he'd get out the tickets and just hand one to each of us. The only one we knew for sure was DS's ticket because he had a child's ticket. I'm sure we got the other tickets mixed up all the time, but they always worked at the scanners. Sometimes we'd have to put the ticket through again.

It made me wonder if those scanners really work.

Thats interesting. We had an issue with my DS using my ticket but it did NOt go thru, we tried again, no go, then Cm walks over, looked at all 3 tickets and was straightened out though I cannot recall HOW.

I think the scanners actually DO work, who knows, I'm one of those that would be MORTIFIED to try and use some one elses (partially used?) ticket, etc. I always think about those people on ebay that get "stuck" with a ticket that were NOT able to use, sad!

Hi I am the OP.
I asked this question because my family all has non expiration tickets. If one of us don't go back on our next trip I wanted to know if we could still use the ticket. I have my original receipt indicating that they were purchased by me.
I just wasn't sure if the original purchaser could use a ticket with someone elses name in the same immediate family.

We've had plenty of times where we didn't remember whose ticket was whose from trip to trip (although now I mark them). We hung up at the turnstiles, but were never questioned or turned away.

Just back yesterday and this is what I observed while going through he turnstiles. Everyone needed to use the finger scanner everywhere--previously I've seen them not require the finger scan early when there was heavy traffic, but this time no one cared if it slowed things down. When multiple tries were used without success the ticket and ticket holder were escorted to the guest services area for further assistance once ID had been established. For families the ticket confusion was sorted at the turnstile. In two instances (I was the next person in line so couldn't help but see) the ID didnt' match the ticket, the ticket was handed to guest services personnel that escorted the person to guest services--I do not know what happened from there.

We noticed a lot of people being checked this year. It really holds up the line!:rotfl:

We got ours mixed up once and the turnstile stopped us. Had to swap our tickets around to get through.

One day back in April, my niece (21yo)traveled with us. My family took the morning off and stayed at the pool, niece was meeting friends at park. She didn't realize the seriousness of the finger scan system and just took an 'adult' ticket. Well, her scan didn't match and she couldn't provide any information about the ticket so they turned her away. She came back to the hotel and got her 'own' ticket and was fine, lost a couple hours but lesson learned.

Yes, the finger scans do work. I accidentally put a different finger on the scanner one day it the turnstile DID NOT turn. I put the finger on I had been using since day 1 and the turnstile immediately worked.

You might want to look at the Everything About WDW Tickets locked sticky in the TPA&S Forum. (With the exception of the price change for hopping, there have been no changes and these will soon be edited.) Post #14 discusses the finger scans in detail.
