So, does everybody do the finger scans now? Last year we had 4 day hoppers and didn't have to scan but 2 people in our party had FL resident passes and had to scan. Seems like this will take longer if everybody does this...

everyone but small children were scanning when we were there the 1st week of October

Yes, they are now calling it "ticket tag" and everyone with an adult ticket (10+) has to do it. They will make an exception if you can't or really don't want to but in that case you need to show ID instead.
They have changed the turnstyles with specific instructions and a set of lights - it is pretty easy. Honestly the ticket tag wasn't what slowed the lines it was the bag check and people not having the tickets ready.

If you know your bag is getting searched, be ready to open it or have it open and since you know you will need your ticket for admission please take it out of the 2rd pocket inside your purse that is in your backpack. Ok, yes a bit of an exaggeration!!
