I heard thru a friend that on their recent trip to US/IOA there was a finger ID type scan - similar to WDW finger bone scan on admission.

Is this true?

We purchased print at home 7 day pass - and are staying onsite - so I am wondering if we will be using a finger scan for admission/FOTL etc.

Thanks for any info.

Yes they have one and unless they are down everyone has to use them to enter

Yes....Universal uses biometrics for park entry. If you're staying onsite, the room key is your FOTL pass.

We were there yesterday. We did NOT have to scan our fingers at IoA (where we went first), but we DID have to scan them at US (though this was the "back" entrance by Blue Man / Hard Rock Cafe, if that makes a difference).

How do those print@home tickets work? I just bought and printed mine today for our October 2008 trip. It says to bring the paper and photo ID to the turnstile. Do I need to carry around a piece of paper for 7 days? I assumed I'd turn it in for a ticket but it doesn't seem like that.

No, that is your ticket. I suggest printing out a few of them in case one gets damaged.

If you wanted the ticket type, you needed to choose the kiosk pick up. It is a little more expensive.

Sometimes in the morning when there were big crowds trying to get in, we found that they didn't use the finger scan either.

I'm not a big fan of finger scan. They have one at Bush Gardens Europe. We got season passes, and had to show our ID everytime cause the fingerscan wasn't working. First time I didn't have ID, hubby threw such a fit, they finally just let us in. I was so embarassed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went three times this past week and half the time they didn't work. I almost wish they would just go back to the pictures on the cards like some parks have!

I know what you mean. I still have the blue plastic pass with my picture on it and you're right...half of the time my finger won't scan. When it's busy, they use the hand held scanners and the line moves right along.

If they do not reach a certain enterance rate they are turned off to speed things up. I.e. the ideal time is <8 seconds a person

This morning they were not using the finger scanner...just scanning the tickets. The lines moved right along.
