Love your description of getting to your room. I can see it in my mind's eye. Sounds like something I would do I also know the ritual of the fighting over who gets to open the oh so exciting hotel room door. That sits right along side the ritual of who gets to push the elevator buttons. (Don't worry. They usually outgrow the ritual by the time they are around 10.) I know exactly what you mean about that view. So fabulous! This resort is really a destination unto itself. My youngest could stay here for a week and never leave the room and he might say it was the best vacation ever. Have a great trip to Mexico and we'll all be waiting here when you get back

What we were about to find out is that our room was {Literally} on the opposite side, of the resort.

Oh no! If it makes you feel better, I did the exact. same. thing. years ago, pre-DVC. Those are some loooooong hallways.

{a titch better lighting in the vanity area may make a girl pee herself with delight... just sayin}.

It definitely would me! The craziest part is that the 1-bedrooms in Kidani are even DARKER!

My only complaint of the room came from it’s lack of storage.

We just about fit, with just Leo and I. I can't imagine luggage for 4 in there!

It was truly a room with a great view!

I love the room pics!!! Our room at AKL was in the very last hallway if you are facing the front from the parking lot! It had an elevator 1/2 way between our room and the lobby which was nice access to the pool and food court so it didn't seem that the walk was very long then!

You mentioned about hubs and Cincinnati! We're all quiet here right now but were expected to get 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow which will cover the little bit of green grass that we can see! I hope he makes it home safe and you all have a great time!

I def remember the highlight of staying deluxe (we stayed at Boardwalk villas) was the balcony! I had coffee and breakfast everyday out there!

Hubs made it to Mexico... not without issues, but made it! He had to get out of Arkansas and they routed him to Atlanta, which he caught a flight to Puerto Vallarta and met us.

Yes... I got to travel alone with the kids to a foriegn country.


It was a nerve tester, but we made it!


We made it back from Mexico late last night - Safe, relaxed and everyones skin is darker... way darker for hubs {even with spf 50 for all!}.

I thought I'd get a ton of this TR wrtitten whilst there, but I decided to relax and not even open the laptop. {Crazy huh?}

Just saw your room pics. I love the AKL villas. I had a chance to stay in a 2BR and it was so wonderful. I am trying to plan a girls trip in the fall and I am thinking about 2 studios for 4 girls. I think it will work out OK. If there are only 3 of us then I will get a 1BR. I hope the room worked OK for you when your DH arrived.

Looking forward to reading about your explorations with the kids.

Please! I can't wait for that to happen! In MX they fought over the keys to the elevator and the room so much that I banned them from toughing either, one of the days!

Ohhh, I love the music from the resort! Did you buy the African cd they sell in the gift shop or is it your own compulation?

We were probably close to where you where, but facing the other side. Those are some long halls, but the elevator to the ground floor was a great discovery and saved a lot of time!

When I go to WDW I have fun putting some pics on FB too! This trip there was no FB and no internet access for us. Too expensive for international rates. BOO! BUT, it was a great test of will power to be without constant contact to the world via the web. What a thing, huh? To think just a handful of years ago no one would have batted an eye at not being constantly connected. Today the world has changed!

Yes, I would do 2 studios with 4 girls. The pull out couch just would not be that great for 2 people. How will you ever decide who gets the couch? Rotations?

It was a great way to start our magic! It defineatly helped the Hubs settle into our Disney vacation with more ease... than regret!
