Do people show up a lot in advance for seating at the first show (12 noon)? Can we show up 10 mins,20 mins or 30 mins before without a FP?

I'd say 30 mins would be plenty of time.

The queue has almost no shade, so I wouldn't arrive more than 20 minutes in advance. But it's also a big crowd, so I wouldn't show up at 10 minutes either. Somewhere in the middle!

We tend to arrive around 20ish minutes early when we want to catch a showing without a FP.

They open up the doors 15 min before showtime. So I'd show up 15-20 min before the show starts. If you want specific seats then I'd show up earlier

It depends on where you want to sit in the theater. If you are fine with any seat, arriving 5/10 minutes before showtime is usually fine - the larger the group (who all want to sit together) the earlier you need to arrive.
If you want to sit close to center 30 minutes is better.

this is from 9/2010, but recommends 1st and last shows and roughly 20 min. before show time (40 min show). Have seen it completely full before but it's high capacity at 1500, not as popular as Lion King.

We personally go after all of the am rope dropping, so usually 2nd-3rd show, never use a FP on it (or any show for that matter). We try to sit more towards where you exit (back right when facing stage), instead of in the front, to shorten our exit ease. With not wanting to be near the front, with the several shows, and usually a few days at AK (chances) we cut it within 10 min of the show. And admittedly, sometimes use Nemo as a good (dark) designated or accidental nap time in the back. If important to sit in the front, I'd probably allot 20-30min before
