Finding Dory

Just saw it with adult ds. We both enjoyed it but I also thought it was slow at times, glad we had a big popcorn.

I did enjoy the vivid graphics.

[QUOTE="If you haven't already heard, make sure you stay through the very very end of the credits for a fun Nemo tie-in. We loved it."[/QUOTE]

I laughed out loud! One of the best after-credits scene I've seen.

I forgot to mention that I also loved the Pixar short film that was shown before the movie. I thought the story was cute and the animation was stunning! It had a nice tie in with one of the messages of Finding Dory, which was overcoming fears.

I looked for a thread about this movie but didn't see it so I apologize if I missed it.

I saw this movie, in the 3-D version, on Friday. I was very disappointed in it! Even with the 3-D affects, the whole story line was kind of boring. It certainly wasn't close to Finding Nemo.

A couple of people got up and left before the movie was over. Did anyone else see it and what did you think?

TC :cool1:

I wish Disney would stop making sequels and live-action remakes of their classics, and just focus on creating original movies, which they are great at doing. That takes more talent and imagination than just churning out a sequel, but that's also why original movies tend to be better than their sequels.

Unless it's a series-type story like Star Wars or Harry Potter, sequels are typically inferior knock-offs of the original.

I just saw it today and I loved it. I think it was better than Finding Nemo. I was dying from laughter in some parts. I love Becky and Gerald. They are just the funniest characters. I cried at the part when Dory finds the shells and you realized her parents have been waiting for her all these years. It was like a joy cry. The love of a parent. I can't wait to see it again. They were talking on tv about how successful this movie was and there's probably going to be another one. I think they were saying they thought it would focus on Hank and we might learn how he lost his tentacle. I have no idea if they actually know anything or if it was just total speculation.

I didn't think the movie was bad, of course I don't think any Disney movie is bad that my kids enjoy. The short at the beginning of the movie captivated my three year old son to the point where he yelled out, "Awwww....cute!" But a day doesn't go by that the movie Cars, Toy Story, Dumbo, and Jungle Book are not playing over and over again at our house. Call me crazy, but I wouldn't trade this time in my life for anything. I haven't kept up to date on whether they are making a new Cars movie or Toy Story movie, but i guarantee I'll be there when it comes out. That being said, we will be at WDW for ten days in a few weeks..can't wait to be dragged through the park by my two boys (12 and 3). I really love being a Disney Dad. :)

I read on here that they are making a new Cars movie as well as another Toy Story movie. Also, another Incredibles movie!

I could see another toy story movie if it was an awesome Pre-Quel, with a good tie in!
Like any 2nd, 3rd... it would really need to be great.

Ohhhh, I can also see a sequel in the future when the son has kids.
Hhhhmmm!!!!

My DD and I are not really happy about another Toy Story movie. We thought the ending to the 3rd one was perfect.

I still haven't had the guts to watch 3. It came out when my son was about to leave for school and I wanted to part of it! LOL, maybe next year when he graduates college? ;)

DD and I were just having this conversation. I told her how Toy Story 3 was so horrible because she was leaving for college when it came out. She said I was nuts and it came out years before she left. She looked it up and proved to me that she had just turned 15 when it was released. Oops! I clearly remember seeing that moving and crying my eyes out because she was leaving home "soon." Apparently I get very emotional three years in advance of a life changing event! :rotfl:

I'm not shocked at all that's the case. I'm sure I was bracing for impact several years in advance!

Saw it on Monday. My kids liked it. I thought it was eh. I loved finding Nemo, I knew this one wouldn't compare, but I don't think it was even in the same league. Why arent there kids movies that are just fun anymore?
A PP had mentioned "preachy" I'm not sure if preachy is the word I would use, but at the moment without a better word-yes they've become preachy...zootopia would have been much cuter without it.

As for the short- younger DS loved it said that one and the feast were his favorites. :)

What is wrong with a family movie that has a positive message to society? It's a heck of a lot better than just being mindless drivel.

I am so sorry that a movie with a message about how people with mental illness can be assets to society bothers you. Must be nice to not be affected by that in your real life.

I'm the one who used the term "preachy". That doesn't exactly fit my thought either, but it's the best I could come up with.

I LOVE movies with a good message. And no need to lash out, as you have absolutely no idea what I or any other poster deals with in real life.

I think the message was just too heavy handed. Or something. It just didn't feel like a good balance between the fun and the message. Doesn't mean the message was bad, or that it was a bad movie.

 My family is wondering why I'm laughing out loud right now.

Part of me thinks I really need to wait until my daughter graduates college. In 2023. ;)

Sometimes all I want out of a movie geared toward young children is something fun that makes them laugh.
